Looking to buy a Smoker.
How many Watts should I be looking for?

Do you recommend a Bradley with the pucks or are the wood chips just as convenient?
I see a Char- Broil electric 750W unit for sale in the States for $150.

Let me know to look for and what to avoid.

Thanks!

If you think you might ever try poultry in it then look for something you can crank up to 300-350F.

Or make your own h ttp://smokingmeatforums.com/index.php?forums/uds-builds.199/

I'm doing tomorrows turkey in the one I built "this summer". I did a test chicken last weekend and it was perfect, done ribs twice this year and I got great feedback.

It takes baby sitting, but it's fun.

Here's mine, there's a reason its called an Ugly Drum Smoker.

And the turkey; it got a little dark from too much heat, but was still juicy and tasy.

I have the Bradley with the pucks. Love it. The most importantthing is having a insulated cabnet.like a bar fridge. Thu hold the heat much better then just the metal case smokers. I have a electric smoker ad I use it at home. If you plan to use it at a cottage or camping propane may be a better option...

The Bradley electric works great, but if you want to smoke on cold days propane maintains and heats up so much faster.

Weber Smokey Mountain 22" charcoal ....You will never look back....I have over the years tried them all Bradely...gas propane etc and charcoal is the way to go....

The key is you need to cover the smoker. I think they sell a cover for it, but lots just use the box it came in I'm pretty sure.

We have one from Cabelas. Sportsman elite 30" electric. Haven't used it much yet but it was on sale for like half price, can't beat it for that cost.

I am running a master built, and it works great! I love the choices of wood, and the meat probe inside is a nice feature. Got it on sale at cabelas so wait cause they put in on for cheap. I have used the Bradly and it is good also. It is a little more finicky with the temperature than the master build. With the Bradly you have to use the pucks(and they are on the expensive side), where others can use all sorts of chips, chunks, or pucks.
Can't go wrong with either though.

I agree.
I have the cold smoke attachment also.Check out amazon, got mine alot cheaper.

I would like to put another vote in for the masterbuilt. Mine doesn't have the temperature probe but the timer and the smoker temp are both digital. It will make temperature when it is minus 30 outside and I can use whatever wood chips I have.
