A question for the L.E. experts. Occasionally you will encounter a Longbranch #4 rifle with no manufacturers stamps on it at all and you only know it is a Longbranch because it has the "L" in the serial number.what is the explanation for theses particular rifles lack of markings?

My brother has one with no military possession stamps, only the proof marks. Given that we live in the west end of Toronto, we speculate that it was either a "lunch box" special, or used by the Long Branch rifle team. I should mention that it has a rear target sight the like of which I've never seen and on one on other military small arms sites has seen one like it either. Perhaps some other and more knowledgeable people can chime in with more solid information.

Posting pictures helps. That applies to both of you.

There was one like that on the EE recently. Or it might still be there.

No No4MkI Long Branch etc on the left side but has an L serial number.

Personally, I would find that like a girl with no face, but to each their own.

How it got that way...maybe a lunchbox special from very early in the production process? Your guess is as good as anyone else's.
