Reloading for the 460 S&W

Update! I have been playing with this 460 some more and have found another two loads that seem to work really well.

I use Wheel Weights Lead cast from a Lee C452-300-RF and dropped directly from the mold into a bucket of cold water. This makes the lead alloy quite hard for high velocities. Then lube with 45/45/10, install Gas Check, and lube again.

Powered by a large rifle primer and 46 gr of AA1680 or 40 gr H110 and seated to the groove. Lee Factory Crimped quite hard.

These have been deadly accurate at 25 yds and are very exciting to shoot. They feel on par or at least very close to the Hornady 200 gr FTX out of my 5" revolver. Great fireballs too!

I use 38.9 grains of h110 with hornady xtp mag 300gr
Perfect for me.

I have loaded a few of those 300Gr to try but haven't shot them yet, I usually shoot 240 Gr XTP mag with 46Gr of H110 fun to shoot as well
I need to go to the range to try them :p

Edit: How's everyone crimping with that H110 ? I had tons of problem with the crimp using only the bullet seating die had to get a fact. roll crimp die. All is well now with what looks like a medium crimp.

Ive been using the Lee collet factory Crimp die set fairly heavy. Even with a heavy crimp it doesn't look like much of a crimp. It works perfectly fine though. I always check my 5th round for bullet movement when testing a new load.

I like the roll crimp die better it doesn't damage the casing as much and makes a crimp like the factory loads Granted there is no "specific" roll crimp die for the 460 but the 454 die works the same and it's what I use

Left is a 357 but the 454 are crimped using that roll crimp die (light crimp) campro 45 colt bullet

And a 460 with it It doesn't "squeeze" the brass as much as the collet crimp does and works flawlessly
