Despite having my licence for a while and even owning an AR (Norinco) in which I swapped out a bunch of furniture myself I'm having trouble with the Bushmaster QRC I just pre ordered.

I'm debating what hand guard I want right now, drop in vs free float.

What I'm having problems with because I'm still a noob in this area is to determine what will fit my gun.

For Drop in I'm thinking Magpul SL Carbine or SL Mid-Length. I'm certain the Carbine will fit with no issues but does anyone know if the Mid-Length will fit?

As for free floats, how would I determine what would fit and what wouldn't?

These sound like dumb questions but a guys gotta learn somehow and I prefer to not learn by having to buy and refund.

Thanks in advance

What length is the gas system on that model - if it's a carbine length gas system, you need a carbine length rail, if the gun has a mid length gas system, you need a mid length rail. Carbines use a 9 ish inch rail, if the front sight tower is in place.

Looks like a carbine length gas system, low pro gas block (standard block less front sight tower) a longer free float rail, with the right inside diameter should go right over the top of it. It would be advisable to measure the whole set up and confirm dimensions with the rail's retailer.

***Follow up noob question, so i'm really just leaning to get a Magpul hand guard now, preferably the SL b/c well I think it looks way nicer than the MOE. On the site it says "Must be used with the triangular A2 front sight assembly, other gas blocks are not compatible. Factory sling swivel is not compatible and, if equipped, must be removed from the A2 front sight assembly."

This is going to sound ####ing dumb but the Bushmaster doesn't come with an A2 front sights but does that automatically mean that the gas block isn't compatible?
