There is nothing illegal about night hunting for indigenous people, just no use of artificial lights.

The liberals are all about equality and ending discrimination. Those who live and reside in Canada should all have to follow the same rules. If all races within a nation are not all forced to follow the same set of rules, how can you eliminate discrimination? Oh this hunter is of a special privileged race, so its okay to hunt at night. By treating someone specially because of their race, how is this not racist? The Liberal party's ideologies seem to not make sense.

The canadian version of lady justice is not only not blindfolded she has 20/20 political vision.
Yeah it's a pretty sad and dangerous situation...Here in Manitoba it has a lot to do with the NDP and the last 12 or so years they have had to Fyke things up...Brian Pallister and the new PC Government are trying but old habits are hard to break...If not impossible...Hell, last year first nations were pushing to get the right to hunt, if that's what they want to call it even on private land without permission.

Not true. They can use lights on crown land or private with permission if there's no safety concern.

Slightly different in Sk, and yes, this didn't happen in Sk, the use of natural night is the rules here, unless Zenon, Halogen, etc have now been deemed natural.
I think everyone is jumping the gun on this one. it doesn't really say the kid was shot after hunting hours. not sure if manitoba is the same way but here in saskatchewan you can shoot from 30 mins before sunrise to 30 mins after sunset. the sun set at or just after 650 and the cops were called just after 730. the guy could have been tending to his victim/ panicking for 11 mins and still have fired at a legal time. you don't always have to jump to Indian even if it is easy to do especially in manitoba. if the kid was shot 10 mins after legal hours I don't think that automatically means it was a native night hunting. I've heard plenty of shots just before and just after in first day of deer season.
