You cgn-ers who have one, what have your upgrades been?

Looking to put a limbsaver on but no clear info on the net which one to use.

Also looking at putting a peep sight on.

Please post model numbers.

Just got my Marlin 1895 CB yesterday from Dante Sports(hundred bucks off and no tax). Will be looking for ghost sights and sling swivels.

My GBL has an XS Lever Scout Mount and a Leupold M8 Compact 4x28mm scope in Burris Z rings.

Wild West guns happy trigger kit would be my first upgrade. Then a safety delete, either false screw or saddle ring. Then maybe look at some ghost ring sights, maybe xs lever rail setup.

Marlin did more than good with the GBL recoil pad I think. Quite adequate. Mounting the scope forward is advisable. I like to have the scope ahead of the hammer as shown. The old M8 compact 4x has generous eye relief and is useable with the scout mount.

Leupold fxii 2.5x scope in some Blackhawk aluminum 6 screw rings on the xs rail.

The scope is only 6.5 ounces and takes the recoil of some pretty stout loads.

I took some wood out of the stock and forearm out of mine to lighten it up, I think maybe 4 or so ounces so the scope is almost a wash for weight. Handles like a dream.

The GBL is equipped with a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Owned an SS, GS and XLR previously (sold each regrettably on a whim). Wanting another .45-70 Marlin I considered the standard 1895. However the GBL is done up with a laminate stock, longer tube magazine, excellent recoil pad and perhaps most importantly the Rooster Cogburn-style big loop lever. :p

Not to mention Cabela's had these on sale during the $100 rebate offer. Deal - grand total of $675 delivered.

Thank you sir.

Bonus!

FRONTIER LEGEND. BIG GAME HERO.
Quick pointing, fast-handling and classic styling chambered for big bore rounds of .45-70 Gov’t. These rifles are hard-hitting, big game-dropping powerhouses. :ninja:

I have an SBL, and love it. The first thing I did was take out the safety and put in a saddle ring. No scope, love the ghost tings as they are.
