Big difference between pre '64 and post '64. Most of those 7 million were post '64, and the pre '64's carry a premium.
Your or your friends idea of mint might be different from mine. If it is truly "mint", basically taken out of the box and never used, $800 is not unreasonable.
Just another standard pre 1964 Winchester Model 1894. Carbine I bet right? yawn. Nothing special. Now if it was an 1894 - 1899 with rifle length octagon barrel and plum brown bluing id be all over that. Or a Winchester 1895 in 7.62x54R.
