I made some reduced loads for her to shoot. 40grs of H4895 with 270gr Hornady Interlock. Her first three shot group at 25 meters with iron sights.

One problem is I stripped the retainer screw for the rear sight during our range day and now the rear sight won't stay on. The rear sight on my CZ 550 is identical so I took it off the CZ and put on the Whitworth to finish our Range day. Anyone know what is the manufacture of the rear sight of these guns? The rear sight base looks like this. Good luck getting a new screw. Id rather find a new sight for the dovetail. I've seen some pictures of these with peep sights on them and even fiber optic. Since I fully intend to use this gun more with iron sights than a scope, a nice sent of sights would be great.

I measured it and its a 1/4" dovetail.

No need to tell me what sight it is. After some research of my own, I have determined that the rear sight on these guns is a Williams 1/4" dovetail sight. They offer fiber optic and peep sight replacements for this style of ramp. I have already placed and order for one of each. Since both my hunting rifles has the same rear sight base I figured it would be fun to play around with different rear sights.

My .458 Win. Mag. Remington 798 (Zastava barreled action in a Remington laminate stock) was equipped with iron sights and had a 26" barrel. While I like the looks and idea of using iron sights I'm not exactly proficient with these much past 50 meters - just ornaments and needless weight to me - so I removed these along with 3" of barrel length. Shown here with a Leupold FX-II Ultralight 2.5x20mm scope. Current hunting load is the Hornady 350gr RN at 2400 fps MV.

Beautiful blueing on this rifle. But it can be a drawback in the field because the sun reflects off it like a mirror which can spook game.

Atta girl! Yes, i agree a nice set of peeps are the cats azz, with sufficient practice they are quick, accurate and sure make for a nice carrying rifle . I have a number of rifles, rim fires and a shotgun with the wgrs and FP sights, really like them.

Haha typical cgn, a guy post a a thread about his wife shooting his rifle chmabered in X and its derailed by someone showing off whats been posted umpteen times, chambered in Y and totally irrelevant to the topic at hand.[/QUOT8E]

Haha.... I've seen more pics of his rifles than my own.

Ironically when I got my .375 Zastava full stock carbine re-barreled to .416 RM I got the open sights transferred onto the .416 barrel just for aesthetics - a full stock carbine just wouldn't look right without these. ;)

She has wanted to shoot it since we got it but she was scared to try a standard load. So I made the reduced loads last week so she could shoot it. I remember the day she asked to shoot my .270. All the guys were like, don’t she will hurt herself. I gave her a single round and told her to aim at the 50 meter steel target. Not only did she hit it, she looked back at us and asked, “Can I shoot it again?”

She fired the .375 a total of 7 times. She was done after number 7. The reduced loads are a lot less recoil than the standard loads but it still packs a punch. She shot the AR and 10/22 for the remainder of the day.
