I've seen lots of vendors post pre-orders for the Glock 17 Gen 5, and the Glock 19 Gen 4 Canadian edition, but I have seen no mention of a Glock 19 Gen 5. Does anyone know why not? I am new to the Firearms world in Canada so I apologize if the answer is obvious to those who have been around for a while. I know the standard Glock 19 barrel is too short for the Canadian requirement, but I would have assumed that Glock would release a 19 Gen 5 that would meet the restriciton at the same time they launched the 17 here. I mean, it's not like they don't know about the minimum barrel length restriction. Plus, the Gen 5's are launching here well after the Gen 5's are already out in the US.

Took quite awhile to get compliant factory Gen 4’s, but the Gen 5 17 and 19 use the same lug dimensions now so we should see the factory Canadian compliant G19 G5 sooner then we saw the Gen 4. Also, no one cares about us south of the 49th. Hope that helps.

How long did it take for Gen 4 19's after the Gen 4 17 came out?

I can’t remember exactly when the 17 G4 came out in Canada, couple years ago now, but the 19 G4 still isn’t here, just a preorder so far. Unless you count non factory versions. They’ve been here awhile, thanks to a local gun runner in my case (IRG, not illegal stuff lol).

So wait, this pre-order for the G19 Gen 4 Canadian Edition isn't just some special edition, this is the first factory Gen 4 G19 in Canada?

With conversion, taxes, and shipping it costs just shy under $1000. And they have the 17 and 19 gen5 in stock in canada.

That works for me. Thanks for the info!

Not interested in g19 gen5, but would like to handle g17, kinda doubt it will feel any better then my gen 4 g17

I don't like the finger grips on the Gen 4's, so that's the main reason I want a Gen 5.
