Canadian made "black" rifle

I really like the idea of having another Canadian made black rifle. Someone else said it, but a copy of the ar180b with some tweaks would be the most realistic imo. Cost will be low and you don't have to spend too much time re-inventing the wheel. I would buy one in a heart beat. If people want a x39 rifle there's WR762. For .308 the BCL 102. To my knowledge no Canadian manufacturer makes a 5.56, semi auto, mag feed non restricted rifle. (Someone please tell me if there is one though!)
 
Honestly guys, just make an ar-180b with a decent trigger, pic rail on the receiver and no front sight. The profit enpugh to sail a sea of dollar bills in a ship made of gold.
 
I'm more interested in something along the sg540 or cetme or even an fn fal style rifle. I however must say I love this Idea and I hate the look of the upper on the m&m 10x it looks like a nurf gun.
 
So just my 2c....

three lug bolt- AR bolts are weak. if we build from scratch why use a weak point?
Gas system- both DI and SSP have merit, but if DI have a standard adjustable gas block
Mags- STANAG for available pistol mags
Calibers- start with cases base on 7.62x39. Like7.62x39, 5.45x39, 6.5 Grendel. Hell maybe start with the Grendel because it would be able to run with the others once developed
Monolithic rail ? Or just rail height
Swappable uppers rather than quick change barrels (better with DI gas)
AR triggers if possible
 
I like most of your points, and stay with the KISS principle. Feeding from 10round mags might make more sense for Canadian market, and deleting the chrome lined barrel would keep cost reasonable.

7.62x39 is very popular in Canada, the M10X would have sold a bajillion if M+M had brought them to market around $1500 without alienating the market they were about to crack wide open.

I would be leary of anything too complex, and any brand new design would I assume be years to make it to market, unless perhaps as others have mentioned, you can take an existing design no longer under patent, with a few modern tweaks, and make it NR.

Just be leary of anything designed by committee :)

LOL. I highly doubt this would happen. Since ATRS has / had ongoing litigation against NEA. But that is a whole other debacle that rivals this M&M fiasco.

Seriously though, would love to see a Canadian company come up with something Canadians want, and at a price Canadians can afford, in a modern design.
 
:wave: Just build it, don't talk about it, don't post about it, don't do the preorder BS. Once it is done just do the "BAM look what we have for you guys, the price is $***.** ,yes they are in stock and you may order it now". :cool:
