Maybe because I have background in running a business, I just don't see how this is WS fault. If M&M said they would give them the rifles, and this was the price, then they had the right to have a pre-sale, whether there was a verbal contract or a written contract.
Think about this: Why would WS, a reputable, established company, just decide one day that they could probably get their hands on this rifle, so they would conduct a pre-sale at a guesstimated price?
The legal grey area is if M&M said they could have the rifles at $x but then later decided that they won't sell them directly to WS, but instead through a distributor (NS), and now the price will be $x.
Also, I think that some of you (I'm sure you can figure out who you are) really need to give yourself a reality check. All this boycotting talk is laughable. This isn't the USA. We don't have multiple gun stores in every city. We don't have a huge market where firearms manufacturers are racing to sell to us, and making Canadian Law compliant firearms first. We are a nobody market. As such, we get dealt with accordingly. You want to boycott NS, that's cool. So therefore, you can never buy any IWI, Kriss, Norinco, FN, and Smith & Wesson firearms. That's a huge chunk of firearms you would principally not own, in an already small market of legal firearms. If you have a problem with what MD Charlton does, are you going to no longer purchase any SIG's or any of their firearms? If you have a problem with the Gravel Agency, are you going to no longer purchase any Bushmaster or Remington firearms? Pretty soon, you are going to be out of firearms that you would own based on your "principles".
I am sorry, but being in a small market, sometimes you just have to suck it up and take what you can get. Perhaps it sounds like a defeatist attitude (which is impossible seeing as I'm probably one of the younger people in this forum at 28, and my PAL is processing with the RCMP at the moment) but it is the realistic view of what I have learned since deciding that I wanted to own firearms in Canada.
If someone personally ripped you off, then fine, I'm all for stopping supporting that company or person. But none of you that pre-ordered this rifle were personally ripped off. Inconvenienced, yes; personally ripped off, no. You got offered your money back. It would have been a rip off if they didn't give you your money back.
And just to clarify, I quite honestly don't give a $h1t about this rifle. I just enjoy watching this all unfold (much like watching American Politics unfold, fascinating).
