Hello,
I am looking for a little help as I am building my first AR.
I'm going to need to purchase a barrel shortly for my build, I'm thinking about a 14.5 inch. I was thinking about going with a Daniel Defence from what I've heard their barrels are pretty good quality but I've had some trouble finding any.
Does anyone know a good place/ website I can order one for a decent price?
It dosnt necessarily have to be DD but something around that quality?

Thanks guys,

Your title is somewhat at odds with your post.

DD are excellent quality, but come at a price. If I were looking at the best bang for my buck I’d consider Ballistic Advantage (Saskatoon Gunworks) or Faxon (CTCS).

If you really want the DD get in touch with Wolverine Supplies. I’m sure they can get you whatever you’re looking for.

Okay I did not know they were excellent quality, I was just going on that I've seen some barrels on some websites (I forget the brands) for like 600+ dollars and I think a DD goes for about 400 maybe? So I figured they were like higher mid grade area.
Thanks for the info though :)

take a look at x-caliber barrels, these are some of the best barrels made, they have a special on right now until tomorrow, where you can get free fluting or Cyro for free

Just checked them out and it looks like there is a lot of options and I am not sure what all of them mean :p I feel like i need to learn more before purchasing one of these

Does anyone in Canada actually carry Faxon barrels?
They have a bad ass AR10 pencil barrel 20"

Tier One Armory in Edmonton stocks a fair bit of their barrels and they can order ones for you.
I picked up a Faxon 14.5" government for about 275-300 and I am really liking it so far.

Was debating a Faxon barrel on the NEA 102 (super light profile) before I gave up on the rifle for now.
They look like awesome products for a reasonable price.

You might want to check out CTCS in the banner above.
Have a look at the Ranier Arms barrels. The Match barrels seem to be great quality at a reasonable price.
I used a 16", .223 Wylde barrel for a 3 gun build I did.
An FN barrel is also worth a look if you can find one.

Iraqveteran88, did a melt down using a Faxon barrel and it burst after about 830 rounds, and a cheap no name barrel in another melt down they did lasted 1200 rounds

Those tests are good for nothing but views on YouTube.

If you're a Canadian, who can afford to dump 1-2k rounds in a single range session, a private range, AND access to a full auto lower, than yes this test is marginally accurate. However, the majority of folks in this country don't fit either of those criteria making this test pretty much moot.

That's like saying "yeah I kicked the crap out of Floyd Mayweather in a street fight! Yeah who cares that I used bear spray and a baseball bat?"
The conditions are so unreasonable and unlikely that it's just pure entertainment and zero relative information. Regardless if you're a civilian, law enforcement or military, nobody but YouTube allstars dump a few thousand rounds in a full auto lower, in simultaneous succession. Nobody.

Just in case you missed my point, nobody is saying we are going to be shooting this full auto, but if you are going to spend good money on a barrel, why buy a barrel that is not any better that a 150.00 knock off

In case you missed mine, using a "meltdown show" as an accurate means of determining what is a good or not barrel is the least bit scientific or sound. But what you choose to do with your money or firearms really is none of my business.
