Wondering about people's experience with any 10mm pistol.

Any one on here own a Glock 40? Is that barrel like having a harpoon in your hand?

Any one on here have experience with a 1911 in 10mm?

Thanks,

Scott

Love my Glock 40 10mmAuto!!!! love Love LOOOOOVE the pistol. One of the better ones out there imho. And finally a GLOCK for meaty hands (without the finger slap of the front of the trigger guard)
It is a big gun, but it handles very well. Accurate.

Love the gun!!

I prefer my Glock 20 over my 17C.
The proportion of the grip allows an easy hold, straight and steadfast in hand.
Easy to shoot accurately. Mild recoil. I would recommend it.
I have not shot or held a 1911 in 10mm or a Glock 40.
Enjoy your journey towards owning a 10mm..

Got an RIA a few months ago - Rock series, without the long dust cover - and it's turning out to be a great shooter

Only issues are the mags not locking the slide back reliably and the ejected brass marking up the slide behind the port at about 2:00

I bought it just before the Ruger was announced. Thinking of getting the Ruger next year.

Anyone have a P40L Grand Power?

fwiw i have a grand power p40 in 10mm that has been flawless eating cheap blazer ammo to full power bear defense loads (buffalo bore, federal vital shock)

mine does have an auto forwarding slide if you slam the mag in....not sure if it's a design "feature" or not

First off ill admit im a Glock shooter. They just work well for me. I have G29 which is great with factory low power ammo 10mm auto, exception is high power ammo....its hard to hold onto with 220 gr +P loads due to the smallish grip even with the pierce mag grip extension.

Also have a G20 and G21Frankenglock which are perfection. I would highly recommend Black Box Customs for any after market or trigger work you may want on a Glock if you decide on a G gun.

I have read many good reviews on the Sig P220 in 10mm

Main options will be glock, 1911 (large range of options now), Smith 1006, Sig 220, grand power and tanfoglios. You'll find lots of fans of all of them. Pick what you like. Can't go too wrong with this crowd. If you want to load up and abuse it a little, Glock is a great option. The sig and smith are also built too take a steady diet of the heavier loads. You will probably see better accuracy with the higher end 1911s but that is also operator dependent.

I have a Glock 21SF with an IGB barrel conversion to 10mm. Love it. Use to fire it just like that and it worked fine. I recently changed the extractor to throw the brass further. The ejector is the same for G21 and G20. I am a glock guy. I like 1911s too but have only fired .45acp in those.

Listen to this guy. He knows his 10mms! Another option, although pricier, is look for a 10mm revolver. These are rarer than hen's teeth though. Ask me how I know! GRRRR!

I owned Glock 29SF and 20SF. 20 was a tack driver for me. Glock 29 has a lot of power for the size but not super comfortable with full power loads.

I have a Glock 29, Glock 20, 2 Colt Delta Elites and a Sig 220. I still prefer my original Colt Delta Elite with the Sig as the second

i have my 10mm out more than the average Canadian...I use it as designed. I need to trust mine to not fail if needed. Practice practice practice and then more practice with high power loads. I don't own anything smaller in a handgun so 10mm is my most cost effective round for practice with full power ammo.

as a semi, it actually had to be a 10mm or more powerful or it wouldn't have been approved.

A g29 sized pistol makes no sense for my use (it's too small and I have no need for a protected carry gun) and anything with a long slide becomes cumbersome.

That being said, i'd love to get my hands on a g40 or delta elite.....it just wouldn't be... practical.

And why i got a GP over a glock or anything else? It wasn't the cost, the p40 ended up being a bit more than a G20, it was the rotating barrel that sold me. TO ME the recoil on my p40 is a small push compared to just about anything else. I find it pushes less than my compensated .460row shooting .45 acp.

i couldn't find a Glock40 last fall when i was shopping for one so i had to speacial order one in.
got it in January of this year (2017).

so ive had almost a year behind the trigger of it and its very fast becoming my caliber of choice!
so much so that im nibbling around at picking up a SR1911 in 10mm.

while im not a huge Glock fanboy i must admit i really like the G40 and i will never sell that gun off.
that longer barrel really makes the 10mm round soft shooting.
even shooting bear defense loads is not as bad as i was fearing.

it is softer shooting then my Rowland460 and id say in the hand it feels very comparable to shooting a 45 out of a 1911 (factory 10mm loads).

i highly recommend getting into the 10mm and the G40 is seriously a fantastic pistol.
i would like to maybe pick up a G20 just to compare how it feels compared to the longer slide and with the price of glocks dropped down drastically over they summer i very well may pick one up this winter.

i will be making one change to my G40 this winter, im gonna add on some extra high suppressor sights.
its probably just me getting older and my eyes going but i loath the Glock little nub sights and with the long barrel you have to look a long ways to see that front dot.

How do you guys prevent the brass from ejecting so far ans loosing them? I loose half my brass everytime i shoot full house loads.

Just shoot from the same location and at least 50 rounds or more and you should find a concentrated pile somewhere behind you or to your right. Orange shooting glasses helps you see more easily as well.
