Victoria gun show

I really hope you guys are here this year. I have waited the last three years for you and it’s been a no go. Please give me some good news ! Thanks

I would like to see more diversity in the show for next year. My perception was lots of old used stuff being offered. It would be nice to see more retail shops there with some ‘modern’ inventory, LOL.

I would also like to see Canada Ammo at the show. Maybe they could replace the business from the interior that showed up with very over priced items (CCI MINI MAGS 40 Gr for $20 a sleeve of 100, less than $13 down town or half a case of 7.62x39 ammo for $285, $175 on a local guys table). That guy actually complained to me that its not really worth his time here as the "old people won't spend any money". Most of the shows have smaller locations and try to promote the smaller non business guys. Business have a store location were people can go to see what they have any time they are open. The small shows give the local private individual an opportunity to sell and buy.

Agreed ^^

One vendor had Magpul Gen3 5/30 PMags for $40, that's a ridiculous price. Another vendor marked all their stuff at full MSR then gave a discount which was slightly above any street price. The issue as I see it is, Victoria doesn't really have a competitive retail environment when it comes to FA stuff so the gun show vendors simply price it at what ever they want.

The displays on the outer tables were cool, that was worth the price of admission alone. I'm not sure if I would go again thou. I would if I knew Canada Ammo had a table.

'Modern' inventory was defiantly lacking. IPSC gun belts? Three gun? AR's. Tac shotguns (I did see one)?

Also I was going to make a joke if anyone saw a slightly over weight guy with greying hair walking around but I thought better of it...

OH and you really need to advertise more/better cause it was pure luck that I found out about it.

Funny cause I bought 2 PMAGS at the same show for $30 each then I talked to the guy who was selling them for $40 and I mentioned the $30 dollar guy. He said that they must have had older stock cause $40 is the newer price if you bought the stock more recently...

That’s funny no one in Canada sells them for $40 except that guy. I just bought 3 of the GEN3 5/30 PMags for $26 each from one of the CGN sponsors and they’ll add $4 for a Ranger Plate. Bought a bunch of other stuff too but was hoping to see bits like this at the show for Street prices.

Could we move the big Victoria show to not-hunting season? I wanted to go, but spent the weekend camping and not seeing any deer instead.

We could potentially do it in the spring as well. I can bring that up to the committee.

Unfortunately, due to the use of the fairgrounds, we cannot do it in the summer.

Spring would be a great time.
I went to the show last year and enjoyed it , but I too found out about it by accident. (On cgn I believe)

Spring is gun show season for sure, but pretty crowded. Make sure to schedule around shot and IWA and all the other shows.

I'll make the concerns heard at the next meeting! I'm hoping to provide a bit more of an online presence for the club and that will also hopefully translate into some growth for us.

Just a polite question, but do you actually target and invite BC / AB companies to attend? There is a big retail / manufacturing base now in the two Western Provinces which could make your event (you'll only know if you ask?) into a really diverse and exciting gun fair to attend. Currently I personally find it a bit stale, too many of the same guys who drag the same stuff around and trade amongst themselves. Not a criticism of the event, just some of the exhibitors. (I came away thinking how pretty a fence would be with a lot of what was for sale).

I shoot a lot, and hunt most things that you are allowed to shoot and I still come away with a single purchase of something at best.

Candocad.
