Thinking about getting one. Anyone have one or has anyone shyed away from one and for what reason. Seems like they are a quality pistol and good value with the Canadian msrp lower than the US msrp.

I saw a bunch of reviews online and they're positive for the most part. Things people complain about are lack of aftermarket/night sights and maybe DA trigger. I've only handled one and they feel good in the hand, not as good as my CZ 75 but still good. DA trigger is a bit heavy/long but SA is nice. I think they're not more popular in Canada is likely because IPSC crowd want something with a full slide/longer sight radius (if you stick with a CZ design). and cheapo bargain hunters dont like the one grand price point. I have a btw ad on EE for one myself...

I shot a friends and bought one the next day. High quality, tight tolerances and is one of the few compacts that I can shoot reasonably well. I like the CZ 75 platform and it is better quality than my Baby Eagle and Tac Sport. These are occasionally on the ee for @$1000.

Buy the next one you see, these are quality pistols.

Totally agree.

Beautiful CZ 75 style quality built pistol. The Sphinx SDP compact alpha with threaded barrel is a pleasure to shoot, very comfortable grip (in my hands anyway) accurate and soft shooting. It only comes with 2 magazines which can be trickier to find, but will take common CZ 75 mags if you don't mind them sticking out a bit. Otherwise it's a great handgun.

Outstanding semi-compact pistol. Everything positive that the others have said is true. There really are no down-sides aside from the price ànd potentially the fit. The SDP is actually excellent value for your money with typical Swiss machining and attention to detail. As for the fit of the SDP, that is a personal matter that varies with hand size and shape. If the SDP fits you well, it can be an exceedingly accurate CZ75 variant. I absolutely love my sand SDP and wouldn't consider selling it. If we had concealed carry in Canada this would be an ideal EDC pistol. Spare magazines aren't that difficult to source - my LGS was able to order in some Megcars for me.

Yeah purchased my SDP compact desert a couple years back and it's my all-time favourite. Fit and finish is what sealed the deal for me. The quality is superb. For what it's worth, I also own a CZ Shadow... Even sold my p226 scorpion to get my hands on it.

I too would conceal carry this if possible in Canada...Just a great all around pistol.

FWIW we deal with the current Sphinx owners and can source parts and sights for the SDP. Contact markus@theshootingcentre.com
