Here s one of mine a Ross. 1910 E grade factory sporter. When I bought it ,it had a bad repair to the toe of the stock and varnish was slopped all over the stock as well.I repaired the toe and refinished the stock with a nice oil finish.I like the express sights on it ,I m a sucker for express sights

I am using classic cartridges in a new take of an old platform... these are all sighted in and ready to go...

Top to bottom: Ruger M77 MKII .257 Roberts, 6.5X55, and 7X57.

A Ruger International (RSI) Number One in 7x57 is my go-to big game rifle, with a Brno ZG 47 in 30-06 as an alternate. The Sporterized Brazilian Mauser (1908) in 7x57 is right up there too. Slick, accurate and effective.

What do those things weigh, on average?

They are mountain rifles... "LaCloche Mountains"... any more than 100 feet of elevation and you might want to carry something else... 20 feet up to the tree stand and I am done.

I want to ensure a kill during hunting season , the old stuff stays home, or has long since been replace for reliability.

Got my first deer of the year with my great grandpas savage 99 in 300 savage. Past week or two I've had my 1950s win 94 in 30.30

Love hunting with older guns with open sights

I’m hunting with a classic this season... if 101 years old can be considered classic... goes by the name of Wilf, but I call him grand pappy... ;-P

So blessed to be able to share such a long standing family tradition with him :)

As for firearms, a 1955 Winchester 88 is about as classic as I can get.
