Happy with CZ 75 Sp-01 Shadow

CZ Shadow is a great gun and excellent value! Terrific for competition or simply plinking at the range. Super reliable and accurate. Lot of very good IPSC shooters still using/prefer them even after the release of the Shadow 2. You can not go wrong with this gun at this price point. And I find they seem to like the 124 gr Campro’s best. But i’m using Tightgroup....mostly because I was able to pick up a whack of it at a good price.

I love mine - great shooter.

Question regarding IPSC as OP mentioned he is using 4.1 Win231 with Campro 124.

I'm loading 4.0 same powder and projectile (using 1.135OAL).

I don't have a chrono to check but based on Nosler Reloading manual at least using 4.1 of Win231 (and 1.120 OAL) the PF is way low even for IPSC Open/Std/Modified minor. FPS is 957

Even at their published Max of 4.6 the show only 1048 FPS which barely makes minor PF in some classes.

This is a 4" barrel mind you - comments??

Campro themselves say 4.8 gr Win231 is max for their 124gr RN

Sorry if this is a bit of a drift but I want to get into IPSC at some point and need to know if I am going to have to up my powder in order to pass any checks.

I don't think many ipsc shooters use 231.
You are correct that you need to load it near the top of the recommend chart to make PF.
If you like this powder though I wouldn't keep from using it

Using 231 as a good multi-calibre powder (reloading 9mm, 45ACP, 38 Spl).

Interesting to hear that IPSC reloaders are using other powders - that would make sense considering the PF 231 makes, thanks.

I'm guessing Titegroup, Autocomp would be better powders.....

I don't shoot IPSC, so I don't need to worry about power factors. There are a lot of new pistol powders out there, but my go to powders are still Win 231 or the identical HP-38. Still love Unique for my cast bullet loads. Have used Titegroup, but have never worked out a load that is even close to what Win 231 is giving me with this pistol. One reason I reload is that I find commercial loads are way hotter than I like to shoot. For target or range plinking, I don't need hot loads. Far less wear and tear on the firearm as well...and shooter.

About a year ago, I got back into weights, not heavy ones, but to build up arm strength. This has helped my pistol shooting far more than any amount of load development. As we get older, muscle mass disappears at an alarming rate. Has helped this 57 year old shooter greatly.

I'm same age as you and just a plinker paper target shooter atm so have been using 231 exclusively across multiple calibres. I convinced my (revolver) shooting buddy to get an SP-01 based on all the reviews then after I shot his I had to buy one as well.
Have not been disappointed with this pistol one bit.

Titegroup is the most popular 9mm minor powder. 4 grains under a 124grain bullet usually.
Generally fast powders like TG, N320, wst. Sometimes mid burning like wsf.
Most use titegroup to keep costs down as we are large volume shooters

Like I said before in another thread: Personally I think the Shadow 1 looks better than the Shadow 2.

I just ordered a Shadowmate and am impatiently waiting for it.

Both the S1 and S2 are very good guns. Own and like both for different reasons. And can’t see me ever contemplating selling either.
