Looking for more of a gravy than broth type.
Thanks in advance. Mike

Hey Mike, I just bottle as normal and add whatever.
Now if your looking to add gravy.

You've got to try moose pies.

I use a home made pie crust, add lots of meat,a couple cans of peas and carrots.
Bake the pie and add the gravy, over the top.

It's the best way I've ever eaten moose.

The pies are 12 inch in diameter and about 4 to 5 inches thick.

I usually make a few extra,to freeze, for later.

I'll send you the pie crust and the veggies and you supply the gravy and meat and you can them back to me :)
Sounds Delicious.

Congrats!! Moose on the ground means a lot of delicious meals.
So many ways to prepare great tasting dishes with moosemeat.
I raised a family of 4 on Moosemeat, and never had a complaint.
Enjoy! D.

When I was a kid, I remember eating a lot of moose, fish, potatoes, and homemade bread,
And never a complaint.

Sadly, now , it's all about the money, and the work ya gotta do to get it.

Well all this moose talk got me hungry, think I'll take off early lol,
Go home, pour up a double whiskey, and fry up some moose and fresh cod :)

I was using a Hornady 162 g ELD-X handload, shooting out of a Browning Xbolt 7 mm.
I ranged the shot at 252 yards.( after he was down :)).
I got him low in the lung, and broke a rib and I knew he was done,as soon as I hit him.
As he staggered and just stood still.
Then walked about 5 steps and dropped.

Recovered the bullit an it was still in good shape, and all there, with a small bit of mushrooming .

Heading back in on Sunday with my brother,he has an either ### tag.

IMG_0596.jpgMy third moose but my first rack .

13 points .

Quarters were 110 lbs, after we skinned and cleaned them up.

Here's a pic my wife took, sorry but I couldn't resist.:)

Glad to hear that you didn't continue to pepper him with rounds just because it wasn't an instant 'bang flop'. Knowing your shot was good, and that it takes a moment or two for the animal to realize he is dead on his feet.

Yes ,it was very obvious,he was done.

I don't like my meat tenderized with bullits.

All in all, it was a good shot and a great day.

Did you measure him for span (green)? Noting that counting 'points' tends to be a very East Coast - even Newfoundland - thing, but has less relevance to actual scoring.

No, how do you do that? What's green?

Antlers will dry and shrink after the moose is harvested. So the 'green' (freshly harvested) score is going to be higher than the actual score for the record books. I think 60 days is the usual waiting period.

SCORING YOUR TROPHY MOOSE (Boone & Crockett)

Interesting factoid: Most bull moose in Newfoundland tend to have antlers that look taller than they are wide.

Thanks,I'd say this will only be a trophy to me:)

My buddy seen a massive bull, just last week, said it had a huge rack, with about 50 points.
