My suspicion is they shipped in foam, but if you ordered extras, ti removes the packing foam to make room for extra mags, etc.

This was my thinking too... polytech AK's shipped in foam insert box with little sections formed for oil bottle, bayonet, mags, sling, rifle in bag with desecant packs.

I was kind of hoping the bluing was more blue like the old Chinese AK's, but it's hard to tell from these pics.

I'm excited to see what they look like in hand. :)

Yes me too. One of the pics looks like it has black paint on the gas tube(?)

Someon that got one said its a mix of bluing and bbq black paint on some parts, not to mention damage to finish and badly fitted wood. With the wait this is more then unsatisfactory if true

Who cares how it is packaged just know you are getting a battle proven rifle at a good price

Ohhh no, now people will have to totally analyze the boxes, speculate a bunch of sh*t and continue to d:h:

PS, any Norinco CQA that I bought new in the past had a box similar to that, no styrofoam. All of my CQA's also had overspray of black bbq paint in different spots.

Dude, cmon.. if they are using paint on parts that’s bs

I posted this back on Oct 31, "I for one wouldn't expect a Chinese military rifle to be near cosmetically perfect or able to pull off sub 4" groups at 100 yards. The Type 81 is a mass produced military based rifle never intended to be a precise bench shooter by any means and I'm sure people will see minor cosmetic blems.

No doubt there will be people who overreact on here if things don't "look"perfect, those people will need to be reminded that the fine folks at TI are able to bring in a military rifle that somewhat resembles a AK for only $999.00 CDN."

Zab, go back and read your posts starting at Oct 30 at 11:17pm, then go to your post on Oct 31 at 9:04 where you state " I own a 305 I’m well aware it won’t be best in show lol ".

There should be no surprises to you as you knew how Norinco quality and fit and finish is bud

Lol it’s not a deal breaker and I will enjoy this rifle, it’s just a little bit if a let down. I’m ocd and more of a collector is all lol it is what it is, it will only bug me Till the next thing arises with something else. Not worried

I know it won’t be perfect, I just hate paint on guns is all. As I said it’s not the end of the world

I was hoping for complete blueing throughout the exterior of the gun....

Same, do the pla versions use paint ? Anyways it looks like only the gas tube cover plate is paint. If any owners that received one can let us know what parts look to be painted it would be appreciated. Cheers
