M44 muzzle flash

Not sure but my M38 shoots fireballs with ammo below.

PRC surplus- fireball also recoils like a monster ( so hot)
Russian surplus - fireball, slight recoil difference from commercial
Barnaul 193gr FMJ - impressive fireball
MFS FMJ & SP - impressive fireball

Don't give this gun to a new shooter, there likely to jump and run away with the fireball/recoil.
 
M38 same thing - and in bright sunlight...

I shoot mine at my local club under a small roof that has snow on top during the winter. The muzzle blast is so fierce that the entire roof rattles and snow falls in front of the lanes.
 
Gotta love slow burning commie powder. That's the biggest selling feature of the m44 is the fireball. I get the same effect from the PRC light ball.
If you are newish to the m44 you may want to glue a piece of 1/2" flip flop material to the butt plate. I did and went from shooting 20 rds to well over 60 before my shoulder turned purple.

Yep the ORC light ball packs a wallop out of 54r carbines... I quit after 10 round. Heavy coat or pad next time with that ammo. The commercial stuff does not dislocate my shoulder like the PRC
