'Tis the season gents and ladies. Share you tips for cold weather shooting. Gloves? Outerwear? Adjustable butt pads? Layering? New excuses? (The birds were frozen?) Radiant heaters in the cart?

Shooting with my son this coming weekend. I need wisdom - excuses - or both.

Chemical handwarmers, and light gloves to keep my hands from freezing, without resorting to heavy gloves that cause me issues with the trigger.

A nice layer of G96 and cozy gun sock.

.... admittedly I'm a fair weather shooter if I can help it. As time goes by that changes while the urge to shoot increases.

The loss of gun fit bothers me come cooler weather. Loses that natural feeling.

We are starting to approach glove weather here in Maritimes, a good pair of shooting gloves and a larger vest that fits over my jacket is all I change. Changing to a larger cigar also helps keep the trap houses warm while I'm filling them.:p

Approaching glove weather? I wish, it was -12 last Sunday, and soon that will be considered warm. I usually have to start up the snow blower to clean the walkways and pads, and then we can start shooting. At least the new to our club machines that we bought last spring seem to be operating well in the colder weather.
