Wondering if any one can help me with this one. Went to the range today with my Norinco 1911 and the slide started locking back after the first round. I bought the pistol in 2008 and it has shot like a house on fire ever since. I have never once had a problem with. I was not pushing the slide up with my thumb. I haven't had time to take it apart and have a good look yet (it does need a cleaning) and I was hoping to get some feed back from anyone on this forum.

Thanks,

Scott

I would start with the usual suspects...

1) Does it happen with all mags? Is it a magazine problem?

2) Have you changed ammo recently? Is the nose of a loaded round making contact with the tab that activates the slide stop? Look for copper marks on the tab.

3) Shoot it left hand/single hand just to make sure you aren't activating the slide stop.

4) Clean the son of a b!@#%.

It is NOT A MAGAZINE PROBLEM. The slide catch is no longer being held down by the plunger on top of the left side grip(same plunger tube also holds the plunger and detent for the manual safety) which allows the stop to flop under recoil and inadvertently lock the slide open.. Or he's activating it when he shoots..

Correct! It looks like the plunger spring needs replacing and possibly the plunger detent. I might dimple the slide stop so the detent is a little more secure.
