Today I tried a rifle that I bought three days ago. At first glance It look great and the takedown way is really the best I saw for a semi 22lr

Some point make me feel sad about this budget semi auto. The quality check seems poor.

1-The head of the screw prevents the bolt from coming out. I had to cut it.

2-The rear sight is misaligned

3- This rifle shoot 2 burst round almost once per mag two. When another burst came the second cartridge fired halfway out of the chamber. So I still have lead stuck in the barrel. Another problem is that once the bolt has cycled he does not seem to have cocked the firing pin.

I shot Win Dynapoint, Federal blue box and CCI standard and they do all the same. Until....

For those who have this rifle do you have that kind of quality issues or problems? Is that a Baikal standard?

I admit to being disappointed because this rifle has something really unique

Your opinion is welcome!

I've had the TOZ 99 for like 2 years and never had any problems. It's been working flawlessly. The one thing I notice is that you've been using high velocity ammo (Dynapoint&Federal blue). The rifle doesn't like it. HV ammo creates various problems in this particular rifle. I've been only using either CCI Standard Velocity (1070fps) or SK Magazine (1050fps). Nothing else. I'm surprised that the rear sight is misaligned. Did you buy that rifle new or second hand? What is the production year of your rifle (look at the 2-digit number on the left side of the receiver)? Did you field strip the rifle? Perhaps you re-assembled it incorrectly? There are three springs, one for firing pin and the other two recoil springs. They must be inserted back in a very precise manner. It is very easy to coil the firing pin spring which may lead to problems. Some pics of springs and bolt would help.

I second on what 05RAV says . Do NOT use HV ammo in these . These are normally great rifles for plinking as long as you use standard velocity ammo . Did you buy it used ?

nop I bought it online new from a store.

Reassemble this rifle its pretty easy. I dont think that's the problem.

I had one of those, but didn't have the problems yours is showing.

Send it back and buy a quality .22lr semi, from me (Voere) :)

Reassemble this rifle its pretty easy. I dont think that's the problem.

Your firing pin spring is slightly kinked but that should not create problems yet. Nevertheless, when you reassemble it be careful. It is very easy to severely kink this spring during reassembly.
I see that the bolt, firing pin/sear are other parts are very dry. This carbine likes to be wet having some surface oil. Personally, I use Ballistol for cleaning and oiling. I also apply a very thin layer of white lithium grease on the bolt and other rubbing parts to eliminate friction. After every 100-150 rounds I clean with Ballistol the inside of the receiver (there is a special tool for that which comes with the carbine) and a few patches through the barrel. I do field stripping for more thorough cleaning of internal parts every 1000 shots.
I suspect that the rear sight must have been hit and skewed during transportation. Mine has been absolutely straight. Having said that, I don't use iron sights anymore. I mounted a inexpensive Twod 3x42mm red dot from Amazon.ca which is more than I need for that rifle. It's perfect for shooting with the TOZ 99.
