What are your "Go To" rings, and why?

I wonder if they were mis labeled 35mm rings? I know the gen 2 rings are designed to bottom out on the one side (marked with a dot) as you torque one side all the way then the other, but definitely not both. And yeah the level is a bit more of a novelty, but looks cool!

No, they were "34mm" (i don't think they make 35mm). My scope mic'ed at 34.01-34.03mm and the rings mic'ed between 34.05-34.2mm when fully closed (without scope in them).

Spuhr, love the one piece mounts. Mind you they arent that expensive if you buy them off the Spuhr website in krone or whatever it is, and dont look up the exchange rate. It wasnt until this year I actually found out how much I was paying for them, lol.

Spuhr for the win hands down

I purchased a SPUHR mount last year to see what the fuss was about. And It didn't do anything better than my ATRS rings except empty my wallet for no reason.

Unless you plan to shoot while falling down a cliff and hitting boulders thats another story. But for 99% of the guys its overkill.

I do use my stuff unlike a lot on the forums it seems so for me its money well spent to hold my zero in all kinds of rugged use conditions

True story.
But I currently have a 22BR with a Leopold 6-18 VX2 on it that will shoot half MOA at 530 yards and it has a $35 set of Leopold Rifleman rings on it. So spending $200-$250 for a set of ATRS rings would be considered by lots of people to be a waste of money. You have to admit that when you start talking higher end products that it doesn't come down to what will "work", but but you "want" for one reason or another.
Let's be honest. When we look at the cost of some of the rifle and scope combos being run, $500 for a set of rings is spit in the wind. If we were really that price conscious we wouldn't be running $6000-$10,0000 setups!:p

Yeah thats for sure. my CDX30 must be close to 10K if I add up everything... LoL... Could've just bought a Rem700 and with a regular scope and still would be making hits. But I like to go full retard when I buy stuff...lol

Not really sure what I was expecting with my SPUHR mount but they sure didnt blow me away enough to keep it.

I have EGW rings on most of my other rifles and I love them. The reason I now go with ATRS is because I want to support as many Canadian firearms companies as possible when I buy gears and components.

Burris XTR Signature. Inserts eliminate the need to lap, don't mark the scope tube, and allow me to add inclination into the rings. The large surface area means that they grip the scope well, and the alum construction means reasonable weight.

Great rings, I used them on a build, but I found that the self centering dual steel clamps didn't provide a proper return to zero when taking off the scope and putting it back on. I found the windage was always off after remounting the scope. Not an issue if you mount it and forget it, but I like to switch my scopes around from rifle to rifle so that was less than ideal. This is why I eventually migrated to ATRS rings.

Spuhr, but I am biased since I went to their new factory last month and was quite impressed with Hakan and his ideas.

They will release more basic rings for picatinny rails in the next few months at much lower cost.

People keep mentioning the burris rings not marking their scope tubes.

I've never marked a scope tube before. Can someone tell me which brands of rings ARE marking their tubes? Lol

Cheaper rings and bases, especially 2 piece bases, are more likely to leave marks, more so if they're not mounted using alignment bars and ring lapping. Higher end rings mounted on pic rails are less prone to this. Every now and then you'll see a scope on the EE that's been badly marked, the rings will gouge through the paint. Best way to ruin a scope's value, even if it's still optically fine.
