** Your NEA102 build **

Dude we are talking about a NEA here lol ... far from the pro driving circuit.

I didnt modify my 6K Cadex, Its still in its stock configuration and ll keep using it that way. Heck I wouldn't know what to to to make it any better actually.

All I put in my X95 was a trigger and I run it that way. same as most of my other rifles.

Some of us bought this 102 as a receiver set. nothing more.

Well the issue posted are the BCG , out of spec upper receivers that gouge and Overgazing.

When was there a problem with the BCG? I know that there were gas ring issues on the bolt itself for some people...

Out of spec uppers? When? It is normal for an AR to wear the receiver a bit with the cam pin on break in. This was discussed at nauseum.

Overgassing, did hear about that happening to some people.

I have to say for the price it does seem some QAQC is lacking. I hope this is just a "first run" problem that is rectified down the line.

It seems just from the forum that maybe 5-10 out of the 80 or so rifles from the first run had problems? 10% is a little high for me. The good thing is these rifles have a lifetime warranty, which takes the sting out... A little.

You know as well as I do that 80% of people buy guns take pictures and throw them in the safe. So that 10% failure rate would be even higher if everybody would actually use them... lol...

Normal cam pin wear is expected, some of the picture posted where deep gouges.

Yet im still ordering one, NR AR10 baby !!!!! still cant believe we can now say that...

You are probably right on that front. I am glad I got one of the good ones :p

Mine has some of the "worst" gouging but its only a small amount of aluminium, pics make it look worse than it is. It is now broken in and it never effected function in any way so I don't care.

To be fair to NEA, the other (expensive) NR rifle that fits in this category has had a lot of problems as well.

Hopefully they get things sorted out.

Aint that the truth, :) Thats why Ive opted to build my 102 to my specs and hopefully not have any issues. After seeing Jerrys accuracy testing I might keeps the NEA barrel as well since this is just my plinker / hunting rig.

Ah c'mon, he has come a long way. From bashing NEA to purchasing their product lol

We need more pics of people hunting with their rifles, I have seen a few on facebook but only a couple here.

Oh, if it runs, I will be taking a lot of lives with it, lot of 'yotes running around this year, they need some hot lead.

Isn’t that the definition of poor QC? One works the next one has issues.

No disagreement.

They used the early adopters as beta testers and this is why they are making changes to the Gen2 and probably why they are behind schedule.

If owned NEA before and its hit or miss. So buy it knowing it might fail that way you wont be disappointed when it does...lol.. and heck they wont even cover shipping to send it back...lol...

Make sure your expectation is reality, and you are good with the price on that basis.

Haven't driven it? Maybe there's exotic circumstance in which your opinion is super important, but generally if you haven't even sat in the thing, then absent some spectacular and unusual qualification, you are probably not the go-to guy for opinions on that car.

Great analogy.

NEA/BCL seem to be the ones not getting a first round pass, for QC issues (not that they should). This is not a NEA25. It is a new rifle, but it also is an AR, which is a well known and manufactured platform.

Aint that the truth, :) Thats why Ive opted to build my 102 to my specs and hopefully not have any issues. After seeing Jerrys accuracy testing I might keeps the NEA barrel as well since this is just my plinker / hunting rig.

So for the unfamiliar to the platform, not all parts you see listed are must haves for operation.

The other NR rifle threads are asking for a NR with cheap internals that can be replaced. Kinda funny, since this is almost fitting to that description. And everywhere in the recent while, in these last few weeks talking about NR ARs, the key benefit being noted as that you can change out and upgrade what you wish, whether it be a little or a lot.

Take out the fluff from those that are sad because they cannot buy just a receiver set. Too bad for them. They should either wait until a manufacturer that they choose supplies a NR receiver set, or buy this complete rifle. Just because there isn't a manufacturer that supplies just a receiver set, doesn't mean buying a rifle just for the receiver set automatically makes the rest scrap metal.

Managing your expectations. Figure it out from there, if this is for you. We are about to see if some of the launch pains are addressed, in round 2.

Overall, there are some issues related to QA/QC. Read the threads, as some are quite minor, some required full on warranty. They could have come out the gate better, without doubt. Just about every post you see, negative or positive, has validity. Choose what suits you.

Now let's get back to the build thread, there should be a separate thread to define issues, and fixes.

one thing i keep seeing is "this is an expensive gun"..... a standard brand name ar10 is priced around $4000-$6500 (larue, lmt, kac, wilson combat), the less expensive models being the daniel defence @ $3400 and the DPMS, SIG716 around $2400-$2500. S&W is about the cheapest as a sub $2k rifle..... but these are all restricted and these companies probably destroyed more guns in the qc process then bcl made in the first run.

cut them some slack..... these are the cheapest ar10's in canada

edited to update price on dd mk5 as per wolverine pricing

I am not trying to be hard on them at all. They literally designed a new firearm. There was bound to be some problems. They have been relatively minor. Mine has had no issues and I am in love with it.

This is exactly right. They are for all purposes Canada's non restricted DPMS LR308. I was hoping based on specs I read before which have disappeared I might add, that we would get a forged 7075, with as close to milspec as you can get in AR308 (there is no actual milspec). But that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe that was the NEA 25? Which is restricted here.

That being said, it's the cheapest non restricted and it uses the most common to get AR308 components. It's still good news for consumers/hobbiests that want to build off it or keep it as stock. It's not a high end KAC/LMT etc. But the price also clearly reflects that.

Just figured out what BCL stands for

Big
Cat
Logo

At least these are recessed and easily filled. I thought the NEA one was ugly this logo takes the cake.
