Please remove - solved

Grab the recoil spring and pull it...
Tried that - numerous times....
I tried pulling, and turning it and letting it snap back.
Nothing freed up...

Ive read about pulling the back cover off and removing the firing pin assembly to release the slide forward....not sure I want to do that unless I can come across explicit instructions, video etc....

Thx for sure..

Insert a wooden dowl or plastic rod down the barrel to push against the bolt face, retry the the recoil spring pull with pressure aplyed to the bolt face. Hopefully there no cartridge chambered !! This is just a thought off the top ( something you could try )
Glock Whispers may have a better ways !

Can you push the barrel forward against the recoil spring? You should be able to reset the spring that’s in the way if the barrel moves. You may need to depress the slide stop while trying to move the barrel, it’s a three handed job by the look of it.

I would try peaking through the magwell and see if it's hanging up on any of the trigger guts. When I was a fool and tried to out a Glock 17 barrel on a Glock 19, I had to work the guts through the magwell and remove the back plate and striker which allowed my enough play to remove the slide and barrel.

That being said, how in the eff did this happen?

Are the slide and frame rails properly engaged?
I would put the frame in a vise and take a rubber mallet to the slide from the rear and try and tap/bang it forward off the frame. Likely what a gunsmith would do anyways by the looks of your gun.

Gently tap the rear of the slide with a rubber mallet or against something that won't mar the finish, see if it frees itself.

I really appreciate all the replies. It appears that there is no simple fix in this situation. Knowing the simplicity of the barrel, spring, slide I can not imagine what has this all hung up. The slide is in its grooves, nothing out of line....really odd....

Since this pistol has <200 rounds through it, I am leading towards sending it to a Glock Service Center. I am not up to taking a hammer (small rubber mallet) and banging on the back of the slide. I am okay with the $50 in shipping and having it corrected, then serviced and tested. Peace of mind here...

Pull the firing pin/striker mechanism before giving up on it. I had to do that to my M&P one time after I goofed up reassembling it (I was in panic mode for a bit).

Issue resolved!

I managed to pull the guide rod forward about an inch and a quarter and it locked in that odd forward position, relieving pressure on the barrel which I could now wiggle about.
I then pulled the trigger a couple of times while working the slide back and forth lightly while actuating the slide releases and it released. The slide moved forward and off the frame.. Oddly the RSA was perfectly seated as I recall when I installed it.
I inspected everything closely. No galling of metal or plastic parts. All appears normal.
So I carefully reinstalled the barrel and rsa and with the pistol inverted, gently moved the slide back onto the frame.
It went on normally and with ease. Functions perfectly. Trigger feels the same as before.
Once again - thanks all!

Whew! Glock Perfection after all! Glad it worked out OP!

Indeed - big sigh of relief for certain. I was puzzled since the second it happened.
It felt as thought the slide was locking/hanging up on the back of the slide in the trigger mechanism..
I would wager to guess that somehow I ever so slightly misaligned the slide when reassembling and it did not line up as it should have at the back of the slide in the trigger group. Just a guess from where it felt it was hanging up.
Many thanks again to this wonderful forum!

I agree with your assessment. The little metal rail sections on Glocks can be misaligned if you do it Jackie Chan fast and hard. I’ve done it many times but not to your level! Lol!
That’s why I and 4n2To suggested the rubber mallet method as that’s how I fixed my F -up!

when i got my 17C years ago i was putting it back together in a rush and i misaligned the rails and had a very similar thing happen as to what looks like you had happen.
thankfully when i was slamming the slide on i immediately stopped when it started to bind.
i was able to give it a solid smack with the palm of my hand and it went back off - with some force too i might add.

ever since then i make damn sure im lined up proper like and dont rush to crank the slide on.
