Was looking at a new Marlin 1895 GBL in a local gun shop, and it has scrollwork on the bolt. It's the blued / brown laminate big lever 6-rd version, but in addition to the engraving it also has a hooded front sight. I'm no expert, but everything else appears to be standard.

Is this a special version in some way?

Any input appreciated, thanks!

They all come with a hooded front sight (or at least are supposed to). The bolt likely came from the 1895LE bin at the factory. Same bolt but maybe there was an excess supply of already engraved ones.

Thanks GMC - The Marlin website shows the GBL and the SBL without the hooded front sight. Good to know the engraved bolt is the same aside from appearance.

The SBL comes with XS sights, but the other Marlin models include a removable hood for the front sight Ramp.
