As a matter of fact there is a review. Please read a CALIBRE magazine Vol. 5 Iss. 4 (2017) p.28. There is a very exhaustive review of the Type 81 there. The average accuracy with seven different ammo types tested was 4.3-5.4" at 100 yards. No better than my Russian and Chinese SKS's. In other words, nothing to write home about.
I was going to take it out this last Friday, but decided the wood is just too hideous and stripped it down.
Looks to be finished with a polyurethane. Front hand guards and grip appears to be beech and the buttstock isn’t. I think chuwood or some such sh!t. The beech was stained rather unevenly underneath the finish, so that is getting stripped out too.

Did you remove the furniture or strip it on the rifle? I plan to refinish mine but the handguard appears riveted on and stock I heard is pinned. I'm waiting on my replacement rifle but would love to refinish

An AR is not even in the same league. That's like trying to race a Ferrari against a Lada.
If you want a gun for accuracy there are surely better options.

Hmmmmm! Still no verifiable shipping notices for folders yet and the vendor thread is locked down this morning! Good thing I'm a patient guy but DAMN! they are making this hard not to mention suspicious.
Because it looks like another promise might fall by the wayside. Still relatively early for a monday out west though so here's hoping that shipping notices start going out soon. It's pretty sad that guys are already starting to refinish and bubba their rifles and a whole lot of us who ordered years ago are still in the dark as to what's going on with our orders.

Like early Christmas! Apparently my rifle was shipped on the 15th but my tracking info never made it to me. I just got it from TI and my rifle (fixed stock) is here in Brantford - been processed at the post office. Just waiting for delivery today or tomorrow! Can't wait!

You could be in the same boat as I was. No tracking info arrived via email so I emailed Ti. Turns out my rifle was shipped last week on the 15th. They emailed me the tracking number and it is set for delivery tomorrow.
Picked my fixed up today.... Just opened box to have a quick peek. Seems Ok, I do agree my CSA Vs 58 had much nicer finish... but if you didn't know that before buying you should have!
Can't wait to shoot 'er later this week... only have 2 mags though will be looking for those to come in Q1... Q1 of what year though? Lol
