Production Optics Div ???

I think that this will be a tough division for Canada as dovetail mounts that are made for CZ pistols can no longer be shipped into Canada. There are of course other guns, but most people I talk to are looking at using their Shadows/Shadow 2’s.

Why would dovetail mounts not be able to be shipped to Canada anymore, makes no sense.

Why can't they be shipped to Canada? What is special about CZ mounts. Beyond that, there are other guns besides CZ pistols.

What are you talking about? I ordered 2 mounts direct from Springer and they shipped them last week, $130 shipped.
Yes, Springer has them and are capable of shipping them. The problem is though that they are a very loose fit. Azone ordered a bunch and they fit so poorly that he cannot market them. The ones from Springer also are not designed for the DPP or the RTS2 which are the best sights for IPSC. The ones I am talking about that can’t be shipped are from CZ Custom. I hope that clarifies Jimbos ‘fake news’ comment.

CZ Custom is in a battle with customs and the legalities, and has stated that they will NOT ship products to Canada. At this time, they are the only company that makes a dedicated mount for all optics for CZ pistols. As mentioned, Springer has them available, but there is apparently issues with these. Yeah, there are other guns, but most in production class shoot cz’s.

I can't see anyone moving from Open to Production Optics.
Why would you? Your $5000 gun is already bought and paid for.

But I can see lots of people moving from Production to Production Optics.
It's only an additional investment of $500 for an optic and a mount. So why not give it a try?

Nailed it. Given the average age of the IPSC shooters I see this is going to be a huge benefit. Last match there was an older (and very funny) gentleman who had to shoot open so he could use an optic.

Wrong! My Springers installed by my gunsmith and it required fitting on my New Edition. What makes the DPP or RTS2 the best sights for IPSC. That makes no sense. Burris, Vortec, and others work just as well. Just because one supplier doesn't ship them to Canada does not make this the case for all suppliers. What you wrote was wrong. Go back and read your post.

I was wrong to say that DPP or Cmore are the best for IPSC, as ALL red dot sites are good and what makes a sight best is the one that works for you. If you are driving an Escape and you think you are riding a Cayenne, nothing that I will say will change your mind. The reason that I made that comment though is that the best sight for IPSC is the one that you can see as soon as you pick up the gun. In direct sunlight, that can be a problem for most red dots. I have used multiple red dots over time, and presently have three installed on my firearms. The only ones that hold up to bright direct sunlight (that I have used) are the RTS2 and DPP. The DPP actually has to be turned down even in bright sunlight. I was at a match last August, and a competitor in the safe area said 'Damn, I can hardly see my dot' I smiled and said, look at mine', his response was 'HOLY CRAP'. Even the Cmore slide rides are not that great in direct sunlight and can be tough to see.

I spoke to them 2 weeks ago and they would ship then but warned me about possible customs issues. How recent is your info?

I added two shims and with the set screws I've never had a problem in 4k rounds.

See tht makes more sense other than it really is not specific to IPSC. To date I have not had any problems seeing my Vortex Venom and I know guys who are perfectly happy competing with Burris 111's. Just saying.

You are BOTH wrong... and right at the same time.

Do NOT use an RTS2 on a slide mounted optic, best sight for open, yes hands down... worst sight for slide mounted optic, yup right again.

The fact of the matter is these slide mounted optic take one hell of a beating, the RTS2 won't last a month!

Vortex, Burris FF3, Trijicon RMR... these are slide mounted optics... although the FF3 may have some issues... I went with Vortex because I KNOW the punishment these optics take and they WILL break... WHEN that happens Vortex VIP Warranty will replace it, not sure about the rest.

I went with the Vortex for the same reason. Slide mounted optics are going to be the sight of choice for Optic Division.

There is a bunch of shooters that complained about the Vortex loosing it's lens. I don't care if it's covered under warranty, if it happend during a match, your match is scrapped. Vortex is cheaper than Trijicon for a reason. The only optic I trust for PO is the Trijicon RMR.

I just ordered one of the Springer mounts for my Shadow 1 myself.
When fitment issues have been had - what specifically are we talking about here? Loose versus tight tolerances? Thanks in advance.
