New take on Pump action rifles, Kreighoff Semprio

You just push forward the thumb switch and it’s ready to fire, no action movements required. Pushing the thumb switch forward cocks the rifle, so it’s completely safe to carry with a chambered round and action closed. I handled one for two minutes but this was my understanding, nothing about it was counter intuitive.

The main feature that would interest members of this forum is it also takes down for travel I believe, you separate the two halves and have a briefcase sized rifle case. Haven’t done this or seen it demonstrated so not sure of the mechanism, but sure it’s typically krieghoff and simple.
 
Not a rifle one buys to shoot deer on flat land with. Built to travel, meet rules in most places of the world, as a slicker repeater to operate than a bolt gun that takes down. Scope also stays on the forward receiver if you can put it that way, meaning in takedown no change in zero or risk in bumping it around in travel. Frankly it’s a brilliant idea at a reasonable price and its biggest challenge will be breaking through conventional thinking. Sure it’s apparent I liked this gun and tried to justify one, couldn’t with doubles in the cabinet to compete with it.

Are you sure? Did you watch the video? It looks like he opens the action part way to lock it into the safe to carry mode, so you'd have to hit the thumb thingy and then close the action back up... I think? Lol

I tend to agree. Cool gun, but over complicated controls.

A Remington 760/7600 is way simpler to operate, less money, and just as effective.

The only advantage I can see is the ability to handle Magnum cartridges. 7mm Rem, 300wm, and 375h&h are offered.

You just push the switch forward to arm, pull back to decock no action movement required unless loading / unloading. Another thing those saying a 760 / 7600 are equal the gun is I’d like to see one of those take down in a split second for travel, or fit different bolt heads / barrels / mags from .223 to .416 Mag in the same rifle. It’s just a whole different animal.
 
Did someone actually say the 760-7600's were equal? I thought someone said they could by a dozen for the same price....... :)

Might be equal as far as group size, but cost and quality and design is obviously not the same.
 
The Guns & Ammo test gun shot in the high .3s after disassembly and reassembly, don’t think we can compare a Remington to the Semprio in any capacity. Doesn’t take down, doesn’t change chamberings, won’t shoot as well. It’s a bit like saying “a .30-06 is a .30-06” when you try to say one can replace the other, and then suddenly we’re all shooting Savages. ;)

The Remington pump action rifle design has been around for 60+ years without major issues. Albeit a bit rattley but a good design non-the-less. The 760s are a quality rifle. Don't know about the 7600.

Are they equal? No. I don't think anyone has said so. What would you buy if your looking for a pump action rifle? A new design for $5000 or a proven design for $500?
 
Not sure how new the design is when I shot one at Wolverine at least 3, maybe 4 years ago.

It just reeks of old world quality from the moment you pick it up - smooth, slick, and solid.

Calibre changes come down to a bolt head and barrel (or forend unit - I forget).

I'm far too much a philistine for such a rifle, but I am glad to have experienced it.
 
I can see why some of us older folks might worry about operating this gun quickly under pressure, after spending years or decades pumping their shotguns (or rifles) the other way. I had the same concern when I first starting using straight-pull bolt guns, but it was totally unfounded. I transitioned to the straight pull seamlessly, and have never tried to lift up the bolt handle even under some very stressful (to me...) hunting moments. I also seem to have no difficulty using a standard bolt gun when I switch back to one; and if I can do it, anyone can.

Too complicated? Do any of you guys drive cars or trucks? If you can operate a bolt action rifle or a semi-auto handgun...or a phone...then this gun shouldn't cause any aneurisms or seizures.

I've never had anyone shoot one of my Blaser rifles alongside one of my Rem700's and then say that they are interchangeable. I feel safe in assuming that this new Kreighoff on a table next to a 7600 (or ten of 'em piled up...) will also be pretty easy to differentiate.

I wouldn't spend 5 grand on that thing. At least, not until they've been around a while and proven worthiness (might take a while).

Each their own. I guess calling the Krieghoff pump unproven is a bit of a stretch. It's a Krieghoff.

Personally I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a hunting rifle. I'd get a 760... it won't hurt as much if you break it. ;) The 760 I own fell out of a tree stand. Still works fine. lol

I like pumps..... besides shotguns I have a couple 760's and a 7615, a couple Timberwolves, and few .22lrs as well.
Lot's of Pump options in North America...... I could afford the gun in question I suppose but I'm not sure I'd go for it..... that said I could see the appeal for someone with "refined" tastes or possibly limited options when it come to buying what's commonly available here. Some people are limited to how many guns they can own period..... for those people a nice quality switch caliber setup is appealing.

I agree there is no comparison really.
I'd never even heard of the company till this thread..... bit of a "Grey Poupon" thing I'm sure.... :)
