Has the status changed on IVI brass?
Regards to selling in the EE.

I remember it wasn't allowed, but thought maybe,I read that it was now allowed.

This might be a stupid question but why isn't it allowed?

I think the reasoning was that there was a chance private sale could indicate it was stolen from CAF.

IVI brass sales are allowed for business members but not private members. So there is now a situation where I can legally buy 1F IVI brass from a CGN sponsor on the EE, but I would not be allowed to put the same brass back on the EE if I later decided I no longer needed it.

More rules, that's what we need. :)

Since businesses are allowed to sell it, I'm guessing it's to discourage military members from violating their "declaration", and grabbing brass from ranges to sell. Where there is no technical difference between IVI and others, this is likely the reason.

Edit: Jethunter beat me to it, by a couple seconds - and added some good points.

Worst. You could not even be a reloader, end up with reloaded IVI brass (from commercial reloader such as x-metal) and almost no way to sell it.

However, I believe when you see 5.56 brass "all same headstamp", it's IVI. Like, you see a guy offering 1000 remington, 2000 FC and 3000 "all same headstamp", then it's 3000 IVI. Never bought or sold any IVI brass, but I always supposed that's how it gets sold/bought. Either that or it gets sold as "6000 pieces, mxed headstamp."

RCMP also use IVI 77 grain 5.56. So you're likely to see a lot more of it in the brass buckets at ranges these days. There is no "declaration" etc that the military guys have to go through.

I suspect if you could demonstrate 2nd party provenance it'd still float in the EE.

I would advise against marketing in the EE. The rules dont say only non-military IVI is allowed got sale. It specifically says if you are caught soliciting purchase or sale of IVI you will get turfed. The rules may not be applied evenly across the EE but if it gets your account locked out.....

Ya,I don't want to get turfed:)

That's what I have. (RCMP brass)

I do not know what the official policy of the RCMP is, with respect to disposition of range brass. It is government property, and has value, even as scrap metal. No doubt one of the many members of the RCMP on this site will clarify policy.

I go to the range, when the LEO are finished, end of day.
Pick up all their brass:)

9 mm, .40 .223.

It's like berry picking ,only better. Lol

Nobody else seems to want it.

Rcmp range brass typically goes for auction either by lot or period contract. They use it to recoup costs. Probably 10 to 15 percent of brass being put into the market by commercial entities is sourced through this method

There is another police force, plus a few guard companies, that use the range ,as well.

Yeah, ive seen RCMP swat guys shoot couple boxes, and then offer me the brass (federal 308 win brass) and when I declined tossed em into the brass bucket multiple times. Heck sometimes the range is littered with brass from said LEO's.

The CBSA guys I go shooting iwth always leave their brass, so I get like 200-400+ cases of Winchester nickel plated brass.
