Recently a friend of mine bought a Tikka T3x TAC A1 rifle chambered in 6.5mm creedmoor and he loves it. It was and is marketed as a hunting rifle but it is sold with a 10 round magazine so the question is ...is the rifle, as is, ok to hunt with or must he peg the mag?

Good to go in NL. Only shotguns need to be plugged here.
Not sure about other provinces regs, but it should be in the Wildlife, hunting regulations.

It is a bolt action I believe. So that's fine.semi autos are restricted to 5 rounds

Yes it is a bolt action, I know he looked through the regs but they were vague at best . Calling the shop where he bought it did not give him a definitive answer as well. I have found regs that state that 10 rounds are fine for a bolt action rifle but things change. A bloke I know bought a ruger 10/22 that came with a 25 round mag, those are not not allowed but that the time they were.

1022 is a rimfire, different regs apply.
And not everyone is of the opinion, that 1022 mags, are not allowed

All the regs are there.
Under your provincial wildlife regs.
