GSG 1911 .22 Slide Notch

My apology for posting a link from a non-member dealer. I am just confused about the slide stop notch. This used to be a common wear point as the slide stop batters the notch. Is this an improved version from GSG? Also, there is a Laser Engraved Blueline Solutions logo on the slide.

Any new GSG 1911 owner who can chime on this?
 
If I recall correctly, Blueline is the GSG importer for north america, mine has that laser etching as well.

Could be an improved version, have had mine for less than a year and the notch looks the same, even with several thousand rounds down the barrel. No problems since it was broken in, and I'm pretty positive the old lady was limp wristing it to begin with. Great pistols for the money
 
There is an improved version with a steel insert where the slide notch is. Prevents the peening of the slide stop notch in the previous generation.

This version with a steel insert at the slide notch has been on the market for some time. I've bought mine from Bullseye in February 2016 and it was produced in 2015 (see pick). To the best of my knowledge GSG introduced that steel insert in 2014. So, my understanding is that every GSG 1911/Sig 1911 produced in the past 3 years has that steel insert.

I sold my Sig 1911-22 because the slide stop notch was showing signs of wear after a brick. Good to know they have beefed up the notch. Do they still smell funky?.....
 
Good to know. My GSG 1911 purchased in 2011 had a badly worn out slide stop notch after only less than 10k rounds. Blueline ended up sending me a 2nd slide and barrel, and that is what I call the best after-sales support. I ended up selling the pistol to my cousin who started shooting handguns in 2013. But with a reinforced slide stop notch, all GSG has to do now is to improve the material used in the slide. The next wear point now is the slide rails which is seen to loosen up after 5K rnds. A hardcoat anodizing might help before applying the finishing coat as long as they improved the type of aluminum used in the slide. Aircraft grade billet aluminum is a good material but the cost will definitely go up.
 
I was concerned about the wear on the notch and had read and seen the pictures of that happening so I sat on the fence for a bit before I went in to purchase a GSG
but with a twist of luck/faith the local shop just brought in a used but unfired Colt Government .22 Rail Gun for a little less than the GSG so I bought that.
My kid likes mine so with this info we will look at the GSG when she's ready to purchase her own.
 
I must have got lucky when I got mine, I have an older Sig with probably close to 15k rounds thru it, no issues with the slide stop whatsoever. Mine is also accurate enough that I have never even considered the ZRTS kit, it has been an exceptional pistol and I have no complaints with it.
It is nice to know that Blueline provides such good warranty coverage on these pistols if I ever have a problem.
