I have two savage 219 single shot rifles in 30-30 , So I was wanting too take one of the 30-30 barrels and rechamber it too 7.62 x54R.. Is this possible ,, Both are rimmed cases of course ,,and I believe the same bore ..

To be correct you can re-chamber to 7.62X53R the Finns used the .308"
I had Epps re-chamber a TC pro hunter barrel that was 308 marlin to 7.62X54r. I just reload with .308" bullets and use a .308" expander works great.
Epps even test fired it with factory 7.62X54r norma ammunition with no pressure issues.

I have a Marlin 336 in 30-30 Ackley Improved. Not a huge increase in MV, but it's fun to load for, and it's a cool cartridge. Super easy to fireform and there are inexpensive dies available from Lee.

I have re-chambered one to 30/40 Krag and it worked very well. I think the 30/30 AI would be fine but it would have to be loaded to higher pressures to reach the same performance levels. I have re-chambered H&R rifles to 30/40 as well.

I've had a 219 in 30/30 for years . It's a great little rifle , it shoots really well and is light and handy . I'm happy to leave it as it is . If I were tempted to rechamber it though , the Ackley version would be interesting . The 30/40 sounds good , but brass is hard to find . One alternative would be a 308/303 British . Brass is everywhere , all you need to do is change out the size die expander button to .308 and away you go . The variety of 308 bullets alone would make this a better choice than a 7.62X54 . Just a thought .

I just thought it was better too stay with a rimmed case fro the extractor thing .. If I can use a rimless case then I have more options .. A 30-30 is ok for sure .. but since I have two barrels I was going too make some thing with more legs and a rail and scope..Maybe I should buy a new blank and make it a varmint caliber .. the original chambering of the 22 hornet for the 219 savage is not easy either too find ,, MAYBE a 222 Remington if I can use a rimless case

219 Zipper

The .219 Zipper cartridge was created by Winchester Repeating Arms in 1937 to be used in their lever-action Model 64 rifle. It is a 30-30 Winchester cartridge necked down to a .22 caliber bullet. Marlin Firearms also offered their Marlin Model 336 rifle (Marlin 336 Zipper) chambered for the cartridge.

While the .219 Zipper was supposed to compete against other varmint cartridges of the time, most lever-action rifles use tubular magazines, which prohibit the use of pointed bullets. This led to problems with accuracy. Winchester stopped producing .219 Zipper ammunition in 1962, Remington Arms stopped production of the cartridge soon afterwards. The .219 Zipper is the parent case of the .219 Donaldson Wasp, and P.O. Ackley created the .219 Zipper Improved in 1937. Leslie Lindahl's Chucker and Super-chucker and "wildcat" case modifications by Hervey Lovell, Lysle Kilbourne, and W. F. Vickery offered similarly superior ballistics in stronger single-shot and bolt actions.[1]

Though the flat- or round-nosed slug causes rapid loss of velocity, the .219 Zipper is suitable for small game or varmints, including wolf or coyote, and even deer if loaded with a heavier 55 grain bullet.[2] It works well in guns designed to fire rimmed ammunition, such as rebarreled Lee–Enfields

If your thinking about a varmint round the 219 zipper is interesting.

Re-cambering the 219 in 30-30, the 30-40 would be an interesting round.
I would also think the 308-303 British would be nice.
All would require reloading and that is always fun working on a new round.

Ditto. I get top-end loads in the .300 Savage range using Leverevolution powder in a 24-inch barrel. Still have a reamer and headspace gauges if you're interested.

Can fire form 303 british to 30-40 as well. I acquired a BIG box of 30-40 ammo, there was a box or two of fireformed 303 british in there among-st the dregs.
Then you've a gun that runs a 30-40 factory loading if you find OEM rounds.

Just curious if anyone who owns Savage 219's has ever had one discharge when pushing the tang safety forward after applying trigger pressure with the safely on.
I hope that's a clear description of a problem I noticed with my old 219 in 12 gauge.
No trigger pressure at the time of discharge. Just sliding safety ahead.
