Good morning all
I ran across a Webley mk2 that looks like it was shaved for a conversion. It is listed as a .455 but the cylinder looks shaved. How can I tell and if shaved, where can I get .45 auto rimmed as these do not need the moon clip adapter.
And yes, I would reduce the loads.
Thanks

Much easier to load reduced power, black powder equivalent loads in .45 acp brass in full moon clips. I don't think finding .45 auto rim is very easy.

I've also seen people with adapter plates that go in behind the cylinder so you can use .455 Webley brass.

You are right. I thought .45 rimmed might be easy enough to get.I already shoot .45 acp so I would be half way there.

To tell if it has been "shaved" look at the serial number of the cylinder. If the numbers are complete it has not been shaved. If the numbers have part of them missing it is "shaved". Also the gap between the rear of the cylinder and the recoil shield is huge on a shaved cylinder compared to an unmodified cylinder.

Yes, it was shaved.
