This is no complaint thread, just an observation.
Exactly 1200 rounds of 308 later this hapenned.
I’ll just put a gear clamp around it, and buy a second setup.
My bullets won’t eat where they crap anymore (ill keep broken setup for decapping)

Just send a pic and a note to Lee. My guess is that you will have a replacement part free of charge, in your hands in 2 weeks.

I am sure Lee will replace the part. But if you do buy a new press the upgrade to the Lee classic cast. Its as strong as you will ever need.

Don't bother calling Lee or buying a second setup. Just order the broken piece for free: https://leeprecision.com/bl-challenger-toggle.html

All the replacement parts are free, and easily orderable. While you'Re ordering, you might want an extra primer assembly of each, just in case they break. And maybe replacement for other Lee stuff that MIGHT break in the future.

Vinny, I think there is a hint of sarcasm in your tone? lol.
But I am not getting the point. Are you saying Lee is crap or are you saying its wrong to expect a free replacement part?

Lee has allowed me to load accurate ammo, it does look cheapish though.
As it's sitting next to my dillon 650, not even the slightest fair comparison in quality.

What i like about my Lee Challenger press, it's compact.
Compact enough for me to warant repairing it, and setting a new station next to my powdering (bolted to the wall and not on the table where FX120 sits)
That way i can seat bullets while my FX120 autotrickler prepares the new charge.

I will repair challenger, and buy something bigger for my resizing work.
I do enjoy the lee breechlock system, so this is steering me towards the lee classic cast breechlock press.
Redding presses are tempting too, just a little more tedious switching dies.

Edit : Wouldn't mind paying for the part just want it easily, anyone got a source for that part in stock?

Same thing happened to me because of a stuck case, mine was a old classic cast. When I checked no parts available. Now, if I didn't do something stupid in the first place the press would have out lasted me, dammit.

Marty,

you could try Western Metal. They are a sponsor here. You an find them listed under Dealer Network at the top of the page. They usually have a fair bit of Lee stuff so you might be lucky.
I never broke my Challenger press but I needed the Classic Cast for 338lm. I have never once wished I had bought a Redding. (;-) lol.

Why not just go to Lee's site, fill out the warranty form and attach a picture? I've broken a couple Lee tools and find if I attach a pic and explain the failure they ask no questions and send out the replacement part right away. No hassle, doesn't cost anything and they handle it fast.

Thanks for the replies
I had already sent an email to higginsons before checking here, as it’s there i bought it

Never had a stuck casing or anything
Just a defect part i guess

Ordering a classic cast breachlock from xreload this week
It’s somethig i have been wanting for a while, install the small challenger next to my powdering table, and have it dedicated to bullet seating while autotrickling powder charges

And classic cast will be installed where challenger currently is

Yep i could do that
I’ll still buy my part so i’ll have a spare for next time
If it broke under 1200 rounds, it ain’t done breaking!

I'm saying it takes 5 minutes for a phone call or 5 seconds for an online order and you get the part for free. Not sure why everyone keeps saying "call Lee and explain...". There's nothing to explain. Nobody at Lee cares about an explanation. They're gonna send you a free replacement no matter what after 5 mouse clicks.

You have to pay shipping though. So order extra parts. My primer assembly broke on my challenger, so add one of each, then add maybe aprimer tube cause they get dirty, and you'll still pay for basic shipping anyway.

You don't need forms and pictures. Just go to Lee's website, order the part and BAM! it appears in your mailbox a wek later for free. They don'T care about pictures and forms. Heck, you could not even own a Lee press and they would send you the parts you order for free.
