So my new 10/22 lite came in from IRUNGUNS, and its looking pretty sweet. I have always liked the idea of a takedown rifle and this new offering from Ruger seems to be quite the rig.

Now i already had the standard 10/22 take down with the 18.5" sporter barrel, and the accuracy was around 2-3" at 100m using CCI Minimags and my Vortex Sparc II. So i was shopping for a heavy barrel that was specifically for the 10/22 TD, when i stumbled on the LITE version with the same price point of the barrel kits found on the internet.

This new barrel is actually aluminum shroud that is 1oz lighter then the sporter contour and has the rigity as a heavy barrel. Lets be honest the speed holes clearly make it more accurate. So i sold my old TD locally to fund this new project.

So did i waste my money on a new shiney speed hole toy, or is it more accuate then the sporter? Well yes its more accurate, but not by much. Getting 1.5 -2" at 100m, but i havent got a chance to play with the ammo or torque on the retaining bolts yet. I also just set the barrel lockdown ring as tight as I can and still assemble the gun.

Overall, not a precision setup but OHH does it ever look cool shooting cans. This setup does give decent accuracy and ablut 500 rounds with no jams yet.

i had looked at one of those (and you can get them here in Canada by the way) but the price point on them was more then i wanted to spend on a TD.
my LGS had called the Ruger importer/supplier when i was looking and fleshed out a price for me, paying double what i paid for my normal TD was not appealing to me.

but the are a dandy looking rifle!

1.5"-2" @ 100 yards, with minimags and a SPARC ,is pretty good I'd say.
I would be tempted to drop it into a Magpul backpacker stock.

Just an Update,

Rifle has about 5000 rounds threw it so far, with no real problems to speak of.

The only ammo it absolutely does not run on is the Federal Bulk 40g standard velocity stuff. I found it will give me light primer strikes, FTF, and FTE consistently. I have tried about 12 different ammo types, varying between the cheap American Eagle up too the Federal Gold Match. I have found that the high end ammo does give a slight edge on accuracy, it is not worth the premium at the level of shooting / plinking I do.

My advice to anyone that has a TakeDown model, is to sit for a day with your preferred ammo choice and play / adjust the rifle to it. By that I mean, the stock screws (front and rear) as the stock is a two piece design, and the barrel tension adjustment. More accuracy can be achieved by playing with the torque settings on these then any ammo will give you, I think of it almost like hand loading for this particular rifle.

By spending an afternoon trying different combo's and trying not to get too frustrated, I was able to get under 2" groups @ 100m out of CCI 40g Minimags, AND Remington 40g Golden Bullet.

The only mod I have preformed is a lightened trigger, with some stones.
