I bought a used Square Deal in 45 but we shoot 38/357. But a 45 cal rifle may be a new year purchase. Is it worth getting the Toolhead kit to keep the the dies set up or is it not a big deal? I've got most of the parts but by the time I get a $21usd part from Dillon, it may make more sense to just get dies for the single stage press

Thanks
Clint

I go from 9mm to 45 acp on my SDB. It's a bit of work, but it's worth it. Just plan your reloading so you aren't swapping back and fourth all the time.

We went through this question with my folks. They shoot 40 and wanted to start loading 9mm too. After a bit of frustration they bought another SDB. That would be my recommendation.

My experience with a Dillon Square Deal was very painful.

Constant issues, parts failures and grief.

While Dillon was very good with constantly supplying me parts under warranty and tech advice....I ended up scrapping the entire machine and gave up.
It would work just long and well enough to get a run of ammo going then go down.....kept me fighting with it longer than I should have.

Good luck tho.

When I had my SDB I was reloading .38 Special, 9mm & .45 ACP.
I swtiched all my .45ACP brass to small primers so that I at least did not
have to change the primer system. Saved some time by staying with small primers.

Buying another square deal is the easiest way to change over to a different caliber. I have 3 , a 45 , 45lc, 9mm and one strong mount set up on my bench
