Just an FYI- when you go there in person, they Make you give your PAL & they enter all Your info into their {computer}system, they have Little to NO security, the 'Women' didnt even know if there was a basic Password Protection on the computer or even what version of Windows/program they were using etc. she was entering all the PAL info into- Now, this was 2 years ago- the computers themselves were outdated, & IMO easily anyone around could access all those PAL info's. I havent bothered to see how secure their ONLINE System/ registration is..maybe the way to go, but the in person was a Joke in regard to the type of info they were taking..very clueless regarding ANY security protocols or even basic security on the Dinosaur computer they were using. That being said- there were a couple Hard to get items, so, I did sign up & got one or two deals. On the Flip, I saw some completely Ridiculous prices going on as well- Laughable, but really its the Extra 23% that kills most deals unless its something you really gotta {rare/unique} have..again, Just MY {Not so} Humble Opinion :0 Cheerz!
I can't speak to the in person issues you raise but switzer's online stuff is run through the US group Icollector.com. They offer online services to auction houses all over the US and Canada, Their security seems up to modern standards but of course any site online can get hacked.
I remember FOC had a beautiful nickel consignment Python for $8K or something. It was perfect in every way. It wasn’t there long. I keep forgetting to ask them if they actually sold it or if the guy just took it back.
Well, I'm still happy with mine. Truth be told though I don't think mine is 4x the gun my 50's era K38 is. To me a lot of the desirability has to do with them being an iconic piece of firearms history.

What really surprises me is that a King Cobra they also have listed is up to $2100 ($2415 with buyer's premium) Aren't they just a Trooper MK V in stainless with a full underlug?

This Auction is actually Next Saturday. I thought it was today as per the 1st post lol..I live close-ish to there, but it's kinda boring sitting through hours of stuff' waiting for the One' or two you came for. Couple years ago I got a Rare Canadian Rocket Launcher...it was pretty sweet-

Pretty much. They were half the price of the Python when selling new for a good reason.
When I bought my first 357 in the 80's, I had the GP, 686, and King Cobra all lined up on the counter as they were all about the same price (400-450). The 686 seemed like a no-brainer based on fit, finishing and trigger.
I should add, I haven't handled one since, but based on what folks are saying these days, I suspect the GPs have improved.
