For those of you that own one, how do you find the eye relief? I thought I had chosen my next scope, but the only stat that sucks is the eye relief. 4-14x50 F1 is 2.8-3.1", 4-14x56 is 3.15-3.54".
My 4-12x40 Viper has 3.1" and seems kinda low. Was hoping for the F1 version.

I have a 4-14x56mm that I used this year for the first time, and noticed no issues with eye relief. I have long arms and neck, and always need to mount every scope on every gun as far forward as possible to get comfortable head positioning. The SHV was no exception. It spent the hunting season on a lightweight 300WM barrel on my Blaser R93 and my perfect facial features remain undamaged :).

It is a big heavy spud, and I have now mounted it on a .22-250 barrel for coyote use this winter. Weight and bulk aside, it's a terrific scope optically, excellent in low light conditions, and the MOAR reticle is perfect for hunting. I wouldn't want it for general everyday use...just too big...but glad I have it in the safe.

Intersting, thanks for the replies. In store with the x56 versions they look and seem great, but of course its not mounted on the rifle in field conditions. ####, how is the reticle on the F1 on low power at low light?

I had a 5-20 and now I have the 4-14 f1 and both were are great.

The 4-14 f1 replaced a 4-16 vortex viper.
The Nightforce scope has better eye relief and is twice the clairity.

Interesting, thanks! I am hoping it would still be my number one pick, no negative comments so far.

Never shot it on low power / low light. Great scope, and I'd still have it is I had not required an NXS in a trade.

I managed to scoop up an F1 from the EE this fall.

Super happy with it, fits my needs perfectly. I mounted it on my Tikka lite in 300WSM. I was was comfortable shooting right to the last minute all hunting season. The illumination can be set very low, very little glare on the bottom end and the glass is damn near on par with my NXS. I'm comparing 50mm obj on the SHV to 56mm on my NXS so maybe that gives the bigger scope the edge.

Only complaint anyone could have is the weight but.. we're asking for turrets and illumination here

Edit: you asked about eye relief, I was nervous about it at first but I haven't felt even a light touch on the brow yet. This 300 short has a moderate kick to it (200 grain ELD-X @ 2825fps). I have the scope in a Near Alpha, set back on the rail but centered in the rings and I'm comfortable both prone and off hand. I do have a longer neck though I'd say, maybe that helps me a bit
