M10x...

The stock was designed for an AK with iron sights. The m10x was designed for optics with a higher sight plane, so the comb sits low.

It's an artifact of slapping together parts the manufacturer (magpul) did not design for this rifle. It's meant for a real AK.

It seems to be a trend tho... im notocing it more and more... the apc stock was horrible for that reason...

Magpul offers 3 different heights of snap-on riser for the M10X buttstock. It should not be a problem to obtain the correct cheek-weld unless you run with ultra-high optics. Order the risers from Brownells when the time comes, as I could not locate any at Canadian dealers back when the original pre-sale was running. Also make sure you order the correct colour.

I think of it more of a black rifle chambered in x39 but whatever, not a hill worth dying on. Pick your battles boys :p

It's marketing itself as a next-gen AK, hence the red rifle classification. I think Greentips made the right call here.

Nice... at least its easy to get.. i wonder how mike the bikes homemade riser went for his b and t

I dunno about Mike's APC 223 buttstock mods, but here is mine, courtesy of a fellow CGNer who did the Kydex work. It may not look "factory", but it provides a perfect cheek-weld, is rock-solid, and still allows the stock to fold. Best of all, it cost only a small sheet of Kydex and a couple of Chicago screws! The good news is that the Magpul stock on the M10X has factory snap-on risers in 3 heights and 3 different colours.

Why do all the new rifles being made (this includes bolt guns) not have an appropriate cheek weld position ?

I under stand the bolt gun, ok that fine but for the new semi's coming out. You know people are going to put optics on them. Why are we dropping the stock so far down.

M10x specifically because they wanted to keep AK style lower and SG upper.

All old rifles are ##### to get a proper cheek wield with optics, because they were designed for irons and low LOS over barrel distance, which allowed to have a flat trajectory when zeroed for 200-300m. I personally experienced the pain of properly scoping Vz and SG542.

Even new guns sometimes fail due to compatibility requirements. Look at Faxon ArAK. they took AR lower and put on it a piston upper. Which raised LOS to a point where standard AR optic requires a stock raiser.

Funny thing about SG550 though, if you use standard ACOG see through mount, you can use the irons with cheek wield and scope with chin wield.

Nice job, and I think the risers are going to be necessary.
