Bedding a rifle with spray foam ?

So I ended up filling the forearm of the stock with anchoring cement, hopefully it will give me the weight and stability i am looking for if not may shell out for a boyds if the dollar gets better, Just hard to pay almost as much as the rifle for a stock !

I have used fiberglass bondo on my Axis. Worked well. Added weight was negligible.

Fiberglas Bondo? As in Bondo brand resin, or the fibre reinforced body filler, aka Bondo or Tiger Hair?

I would think the former would work OK, it's just polyester resin. The fiber strands in the latter might make for some minor extra dicking about though.

If used for bedding alone, yeah, I was thinking he was asking in relation to filling the stock and stiffening. Easy way to add mass, that latter.

The fiber reinforced body filler. I reasoned that when used on an automobile, it endured vibrations of varying degrees. (ie. road vibrations, slamming doors etc..) Why not try it on a rifle? I'm one of those sorts that will try something unconventional just for the sake of seeing what will happen. I was pleasantly surprised in this case. Filled and stiffened the stock very well.

Spend the money on a boyds order it with checkering and a metal trigger guard, replace the trigger spring and polish the sear (2.5-3 pound trigger) the gun will be 100x better! Filling the barrel channel with anything will not properly bond to the plastic stock and add a bunch of weight to the gun.
