Pitt meadows trap club - 2020 update, they won.

Are they closed for good? Their site says they are closed for now, but I have heard from 2 people it's permanent. Just wondering if anyone knows their fate/what happened. They were really close to home.

"He explained that steel shot is not a safe option for the club, because it travels further and could go outside the club boundaries"

Ummm... Doesn't steel shot of the same size travel less distance than lead? Lead has a greater density which means it would have more momentum leaving the barrel (assuming same size and initial velocity)

It sucks to see any club get closed, but honestly I'm surprised this one lasted so long due to the location and the potential for lead to leech into the waterways. If they manage to reopen I might have to join up...

The club needs to hire their own environmental consultants. In the absence of unusual acidity, the lead migration concerns are largely unfounded.

They would also do well to cap membership and hours of use to historical norms.

Not criticizing - just suggesting.

Rob!

They were only open 3 days a week for a total of 14 hours. Sat/Sun/Wednesday Evening like the complainers said they "use to" with most of it only happening 6 months a year.

Those extremely limited hours was the whole reason I never joined.

Does anyone know if the hours were extended? Or is what was said in that article a bunch of crap?

No the hours were not extended. One Sporting Clays shoot per month added. Along with a few other shoots including one PITA.

I think the club should be given an estimate as to how much money this is going to cost them.
If the city and local residence are going to financially burden the club to the point where it is not feesible to operate then buy out the property at fair market value fronm the club; not including the overinflated remediation costs.
And / or while they are at it, for 12 months, have the health department monitor the adjacent farms for chemical fertilizer and effulent run off (from animals) and its long term affects and of course those farms should cease to operate while the study is being done.

Oh, and be sure to include the words , "being cause undo hardship" they dont like being labled with that.

TMSA has closed skeet and trap. Wonder what happened?

TMSA (apparently) use to have automated ones, but in the lat year or two only had the manual thrower with the 2 wooden station on either side by the main parking lot.

If THAT manual thrower is gone now (haven't been in a month, but it looked like it was in use then) I can only speculate the golf course complained about shot coming their way. Anyone aiming too high it looks like it could make it.
