Springfield Armory AR15 Tha Saint

So what about the Springfield Armory "The Saint" AR. How does this compare to the Sport II? That is what I was asking about.

Similar specs, barrel steel is not disclosed nor are the specs on the bolt carrier, the barrel is listed as being 158 Carpenter steel and shot peened and MPI . The barrel is finished with the cheaper melonite finish. There are a fair number of negative experiences listed online and the remedies are just as bad. I'm not sure what a Saint lists for in Canada but in the US they are $300 more than a sport II. Between the two I think spec wise it is awash. From the user reports side the sport II has a cleaner record for what it's worth.

Sport 2 is a good deal at 665$. I haven't seen any cheaper yet.

Most people who buy AR's buy a single box of ammo and leave it under the bed. That is a functional US made gun at Norinco prices.

I hear you. The Sport 2 falls into the category I like to call "when good enough will do".

Nothing to write home about but the vast majority of shooters will never wear out the barrel on one.

Not concerned about wearing out the barrel on any firearm. I'm concerned about poor quality materials or craftsmanship causing the gun to fail. The term "good enough" is quantified by the standards the individual sets. If your standards are low then anything will be "good enough".

Again, I never said it wasn't safe to use just that the specs don't justify the price and leave doubt about the quality.

I was looking for a saint but they were not in Canada at the time.Went with a stag arms no regrets less money than the saint.

Upgraded furniture.

Includes metal BUIS.

Hardly the same.

I am by no means a SA fan due to their politics but the Saint is a significantly nicer rifle for not much more.

It is a better rifle. Down here an M&P sport is about $500 and the Saint is $700.

For $200 it is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I don't know what Canadian prices are for those rifles.
