I'm searching for a new scope for close to mid range shooting/hunting. I have narrowed down the list to 2 scopes: DMR IIi & LRTSi 4.5-18. These two scopes have the same reticle, turrets, and similar zoom range. The differences I see are the price, dimensions, and weight. Is there a reason for me to pick one over the other? Are the glass the same quality?

I believe they have the same glass. The ERS series has the next level glass.

Another one to look at is the LRHS - lighter scope, more compact turrets, and same reticle but with added 'dohnut of death' which really helps finding the POA at low magnification.

Consider illumination for hunting purposes

Also, I've heard the G2 reticle is a bit thinner and preferred by some to the G3.

I almost went with one of these myself recently. After strapping a couple rolls of quarters to my present scope to get a sense of the weight and balance, i chickened out on the FFP and ordered a Leupold VX5HD 3-15x44 instead - the whole oz. become lbs. and all....

The illuminated version, it has "no" doughnut?????

What type of rifle are you putting this on? Those two scopes may be further apart than you're thinking. The DMRII is a tank.

IME, the glass in the LRHS/LRTS lineup is a fair bit better than even the newer DMRII/HDMRII. I've been around a handful of each now.

here is the breakdown
LRTS - 30mm tube, G3 reticle, locking windage turret, comes with a throw-lever for magnification ring. other specs are the same as LRHS.
LRHS - 30 mm tube, capped windage turret. G2H reticle (G2+doughnut), no throw-lever.
LRTSi/LRHSi - 'i' represents illuminated reticle.
LRHS/LRHSi/LRTS/LRTSi comes in 4.5-18x44mm and 3-12X44mm.

DMR II - 34mm tube, G3 reticle, locking windage turret, comes with a throw-lever for magnification ring. only in 3.5-21x50mm.
DMR IIi - illuminated G3 reticle, all the other spec same as DMR II.

the DMR II is about 6 ounces heavier than the LRHS/LRTS 4.5-18x44, the price difference is around $200-$400.

all models come in First Focal Plane and zero stop.
