Was checking out a custom job .308 built as a hunting rifle, it’s what I’d consider in the medium weight class range I guess.
Trued action (700), high quality barrel company (20” light varmint .700… which is where the extra weight is coming from mostly), McMillan stock in the 2.25 lb range with good recoil pad, nicely worked trigger, sample targets are impressive (well under and inch)
I have the very heavy barrel long range target .308 thing covered, the short/light carbine bolt action .308 thing covered and the lightweight trekking around all day .308 hunting rifle thing covered.
Never really considered a medium 8 pound (un-scoped) hunting rifle, not sure I need one.
The rifle shouldered and pointed well so kinda liked it. Just not sure I’d want to carry it around all day.
Would you buy a heavier hunting rifle on purpose (that’s not a huge caliber thing where you’d want some weight) ??
Don’t need this thing at all but I liked it. Just not sure that’s enough reason to make a move on it.
