So, what do you think happened?

it's just like i was trying to tell you all a few years back.... but i suppose for the most part it fell on deaf ears...... china hit the bottom of the parts bins a while back and it was right about 2011/2012 when the normal quality issues we could live with started to become issues that to me meant ceasing buying any of these guns imported after 2009. The importers and retailers don't seem to care that china is now building these with the reject parts that were uncommon before 09, they just want to cash in on the tail end of the M14 craze . Yes the odd rifle before 09 had failures like this but by and large they were very very rare.

Lots could have caused the bolt to shear both lugs.... out of spec receiver/bolt/barrel ring , crappy metalurgy, ect.... a hot load could have exacerbated the problem. If the shooter survived any injury and the receiver didn't blow apart than at least the safety features came into play.
not fully turning into a norinco hater but as far as these particular rifles go.... I don't care who imports what and in whatever "fad" configuration..... I ain't touching these guns for the price they are now. They are truly 399.00 rifles being sold at eye ball gouging prices considering thier recent quality issues.
I'll take the pre 2009 stuff any day of the week tho.
 
Out of battery detonation. Firing pin protruded while the bolt was travelling forward, set off the cartridge before bolt was fully in battery.

I think if the brass was fine it couldnt have been an out of battery detonation. Im going with sum-ting-wong as well...

No thanks, I go to FB when I want to see peoples pics of their lunch or when I care to know what people have been doing today (oh that's right, I don't go on FB anymore).
When I want to read about guns I come on here, even though the last month or two this site feels a lot more like it's full of bored whiney housewives with all the complaining and crying.

The rifle has way too much grease on it which tells me the guy doesn't know how to take care of his rifle so he's probably not telling the truth about the ammo he's been using.
My guess is he got a bolt with a flaw in the metal which could have failed any time with any ammo. We'll never know and neither will the owner.
He needs to find a replacement bolt, have someone help him install it correctly and get back out shooting instead of posting pics on FB.
Maybe next time we see a pic of that rifle it will have a couple grease nipples so he can use his grease gun to lube it. At least he's obviously figured out how to take it apart and tried to lube it unlike some firearms owners these days.

Just a risk you take buying a Norinco. Could happen to any brand but the likelihood is lower with "real" parts.

Lol, well if you want to know what happened how about you show a pic that actually shows something we can look at? Maybe a close up of the broken parts?

From the pic provided I'll tell you with 100% certainty what happened. It broke.

Given the fact that it is now allowed for an employer to request access to your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, snap, etc. It is your right to refuse, it is also your employers right to terminate you and pay you your severance or not hire you for any reason under the sun.
I would strongly advise people over the age of 18 to wipe all their social presence.

Or just keep personal information and personal business off the internet. Posting drunken pics of yourself out partying with buddies showing what a responsible member of society you've grown into won't score you too many points with an employer.
I don't participate in social media like FB anymore and don't feel like I'm missing anything in life. Plenty of better ways to waste my time.
 
It's probably like the first and only Norcino M14 I ever own. Out of spec everything and made with plastic steel.
 
If its not just bad manufacture, i suspect some of that grease found its way into the chamber and lubed the case, preventing it from expanding and sticking to the chamber upon firing, resulting in a little bit of overpressure but an excessive amount of force on the bolt and locking lugs. Virtually every operators manual says dont oil the chamber, but I bet a Springfield would have held up.

Thats my guess anyways.
