Need Help 870 issues ****Solved!****

The marks on the face of the hull are typical for what you see fired out of an 870, 3MACS probably has the right answer on the primer, didn't realize Winchester still used some of the old style primer is certain loads. For whatever reason, certain years of Supermag are bad for this, whereas my 870 Express isn't ammo fussy, one of my members' Supermag has a serious hate for Challenger ammo, Winchester Universals and certain other low brass ammo will stick in just about anything.

Now to the next question, are the hulls sticking in the barrel or failing to clear the ejection port?

This gun HATES CHALLANGER AMMO! And no once it pulls them out of the barrel it flings them right out the barrel..... the shop just called me they are going to re hone the barrel and the lip where the brass sits or I need a new barrel...... sucks she is my first gun and i really wanted her to work right off the bat...... barrel Price is about 380 :( let’s hope honing it works they will take her to the range after honing it

You don't need a new barrel from what I can see. The recess IMO and it always has been the issue and that double step can be removed to seat the shell deeper
or even if it was positioned incorrectly and is too deep which I cannot tell from the pics that can be fixed

Cheers

Man I wish you were closer I would bring ya dinner and whatever the heck ya wanted to drink and drop it off! So are u suggesting I just need to have the grove cut deeper and the barrel polished cause from my understanding that’s is what is happening now

Not 100% sure from pics
I seem to see a step in the recess which should not be there and could be making the shell proud like rembolt says
That can be polished out if they see it and ID it as a potential problem area so let's keep our fingers crossed that is the problem. If not and machining or build up is required I am not set up for stuff like that but there is other guys here that are and IMO and can fix that barrel rather than a full new replacement

I still think regardless it is a barrel issue and wish you could try another on the gun and try it just to make sure we are even going down the right road here

Hard to fix a gun over the internet :)

Cheers

I hear ya they to are saying it’s a barrel issue let’s hope the honing and the recurring odnthe recess works....

Ok. Lets keep our fingers crossed

If nothing else they could take a new shotshell round of the batch that is giving you trouble and sit one in one chamber and then one in the other chamber since you say you have access to a second barrel and compare
It maybe so obvious what has to be done to correct the issue but I still think there is a double step there in the recess that has to come out and with a bit of grinding that can be removed
Cheers

I really hope it’s not a reload! I bought the box new from bass pro and it’s a super magnum posted photos of the barrel and the bolt Bass pro

You said you’ve fired a super magnum round, is your action and barrel chambered for 3.5” shells?

Nor did I just knew they did use that style in factory rounds at one time but then again I don't buy any new factory ammo anymore. I expected the op to come back with yes it is vintage factory ammo not new at bass pro
On that brass stamping for me I see that more on a semi like a 1100 or 1187 than a pump
Cheers

Winchester’s 2 3/4 -1-7 1/2 challangera very close I think I was to pissed off at the gun to remember :(

Fellas ! I found my exact issue !

Take a look at the video!

https://youtu.be/JaeYvXRt4WE This is exactly what my girl is doing she refuses to let go and when she does the round is stuck..... so the smith is on to something he said he was going to polish the barrel and hone where the round sits

Listen! I gotta say, Micheal has been nothing short of amazing I’m a gun rookie, walking into that environment with seasoned vets can be a bit daunting and mildly overwhelming. He made me feel welcome from the moment he opened the door great guy has kept me up to date every step of the way not only did he say he will test fire it in house but asked if it was ok he takes it to the range...... could not be happier I am not understanding the few crummy reviews online these boys have been great !

Not the main issue. That is your secondary chamber issue and very very very common with the express style 870 sure they jam but they don't have the bolt profile embedded into the base that is the main issue IMO with yours plus the common polish. Both need work
Cheers

The first thing I would be doing, is calling Remington Canada and seeing if they will stand behind their product.
