What makes you think that there are multiple XM177s but only one GAU? DID Rampart confirm a number to you? I ask because I was told that the RCMP directed Rampart to cease sales of the Troy XM177E2 after exactly one example had been registered. I just assumed that it was my carbine, as the math suggested. I am not fussed as to whether or not there was more than one, as I doubt that even a handful of carbines in the country would have any negative impact on their resale value as collectibles. Besides which I've long-since fired mine, swapped out the incorrect factory barrel, and have zero intention of selling. All of which negates any serious collector value anyways. I must admit that I am curious to know a number though.
I can't say as I blame anyone with a Troy Commemorative for not talking about it online. If you ascribe to the theory that these sites are monitored by those who delight in pissing us off, then it stands to reason that one ought not draw attention. For my part, I refuse to live in fear or dwell in the shadows because of my chosen hobby. Part of the fun in owning cool stuff is sharing it with others, at least for me. The Mounties already know where to find mine (and any others) should they choose to round them up some day....
Its almost done so I hope like heck it cycles with out messing around with buffer springs etc. I might even get to test drive this Friday. Thanks for the PM on the rear buttstock. This will be a cool little gun. If there was a market a guy could put together uppers for these with no BCG. A cheaper but not cheap barrel and no bcg. 600 bucks with a nice little profit. That would include a plastic replica stock and an A1 grip with a carry strap.
