Hey everyone just thought I would put this out there you don't see much about the X95 on here so lets see some pics, Range reports and Mods.

I’ve been waiting for a thread like this to pop up lol! Here’s my take on building a lightweight, compact 5.56 blaster. With this mod you’ll get a gun that’s lighter than an AR. Don’t get me wrong, I love ARs and I have a few of them. But with this mod, even if the AR is NR, I’d probably choose this as my go-to SHTF combat rifle. Look at the size and height of it(compared with the MK18), it packs almost a full length M16 5.56 barrel but at 27-28” OAL, and lighter than a standard AR. It’s got both Geissele trigger bow and trigger pack upgrade if shooting fast and precise is your thing, not necessary though if you’re just trying to build a blaster. Remember to ditch the handguard covers to save weight.

I also moved the charging handle to the right side so I can do a C-clamp on the left hand side of the handguard.

Another benefit of this mod is where the optic rail is. The optic rail doesn’t touch the body of the gun, it’s “free floated” in a sense. When shooting 77grs, I get a solid 1.5 MOA 5 inch groups (with magnifier). I suspect that the full length rail with all its contact points contributes to the inaccuracy of the tests seen online. Just my $0.02

Mine (BCL for comparison).

Thin buttplate, IDF trigger guard (though I really want the IDF grip plates like diligaf has, in black on my FDE grip). I like lightweight platforms... but the x95 isnt, and with that specter 1x/4x, it sure ain't anymore!

I don’t believe they ever tested the potential of it removing the ring.

You see, if you ever tried removing the top rail, you’ll find that the top rail is loosely fitted(as in the way it’s bolted on is garbage), has multiple contact points and is easily flexed at the front point. I think you need to try and remove these factors first before you’d see any accuracy improvement from the barrel ring. Something like an overwatch rail or a cut Tavor rail like what I did in #2 will give you better precision.

Also, with the massive height over bore it’s likely to see horizontal stringing. You may need a bubble level for that too.

However these guns are chrome lined, I doubt if they’d do better than 1-1.5 MOA. But definately can improved from the 2-3moa that people have tested.

I have taken the ring off my own have not shot it yet. I seen that the flex of the hand guard no longer touch's the barrel but when the ring was in it would bottom out against the barrel when the hand guard flexed.

Check out Military Arm Channel. He did a video on this when the X95 first appeared on the US market.

I love his channel. But I don’t think that removing the barrel nut does much if the optic rail is still in contact and allowed to flex at the front. His bipod was resting on the Handguard, which in turn applies force up on the optic rail.

It will now flex the top rail, which is just as bad news as before, if not worse. :) just my $0.02 though

I suggest resting the rifle on the base of the pistol grip if you want to test for accuracy. Don’t rest on handguard.
 
I got to shoot one in 9mm and was quite impressed. My view of bullpups, especially the X95, has completely changed. I love it. I found the balance of the rifle to be excellent and quite comfortable to shoot for extended periods. Standing shots at a 200 yard full IPSC plate turned out to be fairly easy for me (quite the challenge for my S2Ks). Now I just need one in 7.62x39.
